Yeah man that was insane, these turbo V8s are scary. I figure he be a bit quicker off the line, is that turbo lag or just the fact he is running on low boost on some bitty octane gas?

i think it's just the combination of new driver to boost+low redline+bigger turbo+low speed wheelspin. I think he was kinda scared of it but i dunno. That car should be very very quick though.
v8's are scary enough and then they go slapping turbos on them.

I think it was that he was bogging of the line cause he was launching on little to no boost and once the boost built up he was just spinning the tires and was short shifting trying to keep traction

the v8 guys are catching up !!! I predict in the next few years we're gonna see a swing back to the V8 powered muscle cars just with new technology like turbos added on. Pretty crazy stuff!! Just image if Jeff Evans can push 600+ hp out of a 2.0 liter what do you think he can do with 5.7liters!!!!
Everyone better watch out

i was kinda thinking that about Jeff. Has he ever tuned anything besides Hondas? I'd be really interested in what he could do with an ls1 or even a 2jz for that matter...

Yes, he's done a handfull of 1000+ hp domestic monsters
On a side note there's a guy around the NJ/NY area who handles a lot of high $$$ street racing bets. I'm not going to mention his name but he has put out a few videos and he's on F-Chat all the time. Anyway, I used to go on some "fun runs" with him and his crew when I had my NSX. This guy is hard core, entry fees into his races are in the 5-10K range and he sets up the big guys, Ferraris, Porsches, lambos, etc. I was a little guy with my NSX. Anyway, his "crew" rolls through this area with some hard-core equipment, the likes of twin turbo Vipers, and turbo charged 427CI C6 corvettes. To even be considered for one of his "events" you should be pulling no less then 750hp!! You guys may have heard of his videos (especially if your from the tri-state area) the videos are called "Beyond the quarter mile"

We pissed off those damn V8s since the first F&F movies...now after 5 years of being toyed with and/or humiliated by a turboed GS-R motor or fully built Supra......they are back for revenge! >.<

I've heard of those videos before, can't remember them offhand though.
Most of the high money street racing that goes on around here is just drag cars on the street though. Usually mustangs/v8s of some type. I posted a bunch of the scandalous street racing videos a while back on here and they're from the Chicago area.
One of the craziest things i've ever seen though was at my local track. A lot of the high up street racers run races there because the track would do anything for them (it's not uncommon to see a super fast car down there clicking it off at the 1/8 mile and no time on the board at the top end). But yeah, a big enclosed trailer pulled up next to our pit spot and a super low/4 linked Chevelle got pulled out. I didn't really want to hang around them too much but i saw the roll cage had a NHRA cert for up to 7.50's and they were pulling the converter out. Within an hour they had a brand new converter installed (mind you, someone brought it there on a sunday, $$$) and the car was on the ground with a towel covering the back of the cowl hood.
About 20 minutes later a Malibu showed up that was on 10.5" tires and they were setting up a race. No idea if they ran or not but i looked it up on the internet and found out that this was the car: http://www.wpsracing.com/erincheffer.html
Oh, and the entire inside of their trailer was lined with 10 pound nitrous bottles.
I hope to get some video this year. At US 41 they run a street car chaos event and there is always a few races that go for 3-5k. The negotiations are always hillarious too and the circus surrounding the races. The last one i went to the guy was counting the cash for the race on the hood of a mustang.. like 4k in 100's laying there.

really odd that i came across this article not more than 30 minutes after that reply but:
http://www.musclemustangfastfords.co...es/0408mm_big/ -That was in a Mustang magazine that i read a long time ago about street racing in NY. Oddly enough, they mention the Street Car Chaos events at US 41 at the end of it. I can't believe they were the first to host a "street racing" style event but i do know they're one of the funnest things i've ever attended.

Hey thanks for bringing those videos up. I just found out a lot of those guys live within a few miles of my place. Now I got some cars to look for as I'm driving around.
Also have seen the owners "Student Driver" Vette drivin around a lot. Now I know who owns it.
