Im not suprised the rx7 is a better handeling car from the factory. Stock for stock the rx7 will always be able to out perform the rx7 with equal drivers. Going into the corners the RX7 will always have the advantage because its rwd. You always see that the Evos and GTR's start catching up when they are powering out of the corner because thats where AWD has its advantage. Even then the rx7 is so nimble it wont make a difference.
The FD is truly a master peice. When all of the other car manufacturers where heading in the wrong dirrection and deviating from their initial goal, the mazda engineers made what some concider that last true japanese sports car of its era.

they are diff chassis for different applications.....gtr's are known for larger courses and ur general long sweeping corners.....
tight slalom really isnt its thing.....also depending on how its set up and what turbo/turbo's its running lag will be a problem as they cant harness their power band before the next corner.....
FD's and s15's are the middle ground sports cars.......balance of both. as opposed to the likes of ae86's and mr-2's......small cars for tight slalom's....NA for tight corners and uber light chassis for excellent power to weight. although i fuckin HATE mr-2's...and their drivers are posers........
FD and s15's dont do that well in the JGTC.....alot of the tracks are more suited to the likes of gtr's/350's/nsx......
so horses for courses really.
