something around that. I was thinking 500x150 but same difference.
Is there going to be a limit on overall size or just image size?

well we can start it off small at first we dont want to be nazi and implement a huge change at once. We can put the image limitation in at first and ask that people dont make their sigs huge with text. Then from there if the text still continues to be a problem we can go from there.
It would be cool if they had a vb hack where tj could host the sig for you and the only option you had for a sig would be an upload thing like what you have for your avitar.

the vB hack i posted would allow you to limit the number of lines of text, so you could have 1 line of text for the image code, and then 5~6 for whatever else with a font size of 1.
and 460 x 160 looks like a good size, but even 640 x 160 would work

or 640x195 pick your poison. Remember mostof our sigs are cars. its hard to keep the pictures proporttional in a square. Take for instance my sig. This is what it would look like in a 460x160. The width has to be there or else it looks shrunk. I say it should be more file size based than size. like 700x175 or XXmb whichever is smaller

you know what, its not the actual size of the image, its the file size. you could have a big black gif that was 1000x1000 that loads in a split second, but a tiny really large PNG file or some shit. i think sigs need to be gifs or Jpegs under like 300k or something, idk, something small.

You don't have to make it 160 high, make it proportional or crop it better.
As far as image sizes, i don't think anyone cares about the load times (unless someone goes way overboard). It's more about making this place easier to read to me. There is no reason why you need an image in your sig in the first place, nevermind one over 200 pixels high. When your post takes up a full screen on my browser, that's just rediculous. I'm 1/2 tempted to browse the board with signitures off but i know then i'll look like an idiot when i ask someone what kind of car they have.
