I think I have figured out what the issue is. Very shortly I'm going to be performing a bunch of search engine optimizations to our site. The work is going to be very extensive however members will never see it. Basically I'm going to implementing several known Vb hacks which make vBulletin more search engine friendly. Also, I'm going to be purchasing a piece of software which makes our link much more "usable" for search engines. It's complicated but it short instead of our links ending with .......showthread.php?t=2766 they will have relevant words in them like ................no_participation_on_forum.php. This software is very complex and costs as much money as the forum software itself but it modifies every link in the forum and changes it to "real" terms search engines can use. Then it makes all the new threads going forward act the same way.
This software and the modifications to the code itself should help us with google and the other engines. We'll have to see
