i just bought some skunk2s and the coil itself got a chip in the paint/coating stuff, thinking of just primering it and let it be.

uh?
the red stuff that smells really bad?
anyways, so you put that on, and it doesn't move around or something?
I'd think the grease would eventually drip down or something..

i use white lithium, and its a paste so it just fills in the grooves in the threads

yeah, but i wipe em down before i move them...that way all the grime is out (the lithium keeps all the grime on the surface rather than into the grooves). then after i adjust them i recoat the threads

Makes sense. I usually just use a water bottle or a hose to get the dirt out.
Shitty ny dirt gets into everything

tell me about it
i left them uncoated once when i was home and they were disgusting, then my grandfather suggested the lithium...so far so good after that, although they get to look like they were made of kitty litter before i wipe them down

so, any other suggestions on keeping the threads safe from grime & dirt?
going back to the original question. anything besides touch up paint and primmer cover up?
the best one i can think of is duct tape besides that, but that's just me
so, if you were to leave the lithium grease on the shock's outter wall, will this drip down? or stay?
