Race fuel

The other day i got 5 gallons of 104+ race fuel from Matt (yellowrexsi) and added it to my tank, me and matt were curious to see what the results would be in the suby, after adding the gas we went for a ride and what a difference it made. The place he bought the fuel from said they have dynoed mustangs just adding this fuel they got something like 25 whp more, i didnt think it was possible but now ima believer it made a huge difference and i didnt get a cel either, in fact ive been getting a cel occasionaly and i just figured it was because of the catless D/P never checked the codes to see exactly what it is because its intermitenet, but after adding the race fuel the cel went out and hasnt come back on.

I used to own a v6 mustang and i fed it a constant supply of 89 octane. Well, one day i got 20 dollars that i wasn't expecting to have, and i was almost on empty so i put 15 dollars worth of 93 octane in. Then i went to napa and picked up a bottle of octane booster.

Short story; my car pulled a million times harder with expensive gas.

No it has been coming on, usualy after i fill up with gas and drive it for about 100 miles then it will go back off when i have put 250 to 300 miles on that tank of gas. It will go out some times if i play around and beat on it, kind of weird never on for more than 2 or 3 days. And i ALWAYS use a minimum of 93 octane, usualy i use 94 though, but with the 104 i put in the cel went out and hasnt come back on at all. I was wondering if im not getting gas with enough octane. But with 94 octane you wouldnt think thats the case. ima go see my freind at monroe today and see if there are codes stored, and see what they are.

I wasnt a believer either but i can now tell you from experience it makes a big diference, if nothing else at least throttle response.

x3.... i don't see how it would benefit unless the car was retuned for said fuel.

For stock or near stock cars that are boosted it will probably make a difference due to the ecu figuring out it can get away with more timing advance and still have no ping, other than that most things such as mustangs, cavilers, civics that are n/a and not very high compression will usually run worse on it. A lot of people claim their car ran better but most of the time its in your head. In theroy the ignition systems along with the adverage compression isn't enought to light the mixture effecintly enough to make more power, but the computer will more than likely advance the timing but with out compression ratios 11.5:1 or higher, or boost then it isn't worth the extra money.

Thats my 2 cents for what its worth

yep. Pretty much took the words out of my mouth. On a boosted car i could see some gain because i'm sure they're pulling timing up top at times. But on something like a v6 mustang? No way.

Then again, i ran 93 octane in my stock a6 CRX. That's not $5 a gallon though

Just as a sidenote, we've actually gone down on octane on our race car. I think we're running 104ish now and that's a 12:1 comp mopar 340. There was no difference running 110 to what we're running now. Probably could get away with less octane even but there is no reason to risk it.
