Im gonna stop lifting..... maybe for good
Im pretty upset about this. I enjoy going to the gym and working out. but Ive had shoulder problems in my left shoulder for many years now. once in a while it would hurt while lifting. but about a week ago I totally destroyed it golfing. Ive been in pain ever since. so I decided that because its been an on going problem for years I need to do something about it. and unfortunately that means not putting any stress on it. no lifting, no golfing, no softball, no basketball :cry this really fucking sucks. but I cant afford any kind of surgery or physical therapy. I'll keep my gym membership, but it looks like I'll only be using it for cardio.

that sucks man. do you think you could swing a visit to the doctors just to talk about your options as far as toning it down goes? they might give you a cortisone shot in the shoulder too.

hey, i have shoulder bursitis and i definitely take some time off anytime i agitate it to a point where the pain makes me want to cry.
take as long as you need to recover, ice it down, get some 5lb dumbells and do some home physical therapy. if you completely let your shoulder muscles atrophy you risk making the problem worse over the long term, keeping the muscles and tendons strong will help recovery. (but of course, dont do any moderate to heavy lifting on them until complete recovery)

very light weights and some stretches will help out dave. Get the blood going also that will help with circulation. keep moving it just dont become dead weight while yolu wait for it to heal either. Get those resistance rubber bands that they have at the pt offices. you can tie them to walls and they can help you out alot.

Get an X-ray done, it could be what I had (torn labrum), sometimes it requires surgery, sometimes just simple exercises to correct the problem, for me it was surgical repair..but i'm back to lifting like nothing happend now, except I can't play football anymore.
