Protien and Creatine

What is the best way to incorporate protien shakes and Creatine into a workout program? I mean, when do you consume each in relation to working out?

I consume a protein shake 3x a day

x1-Morning
x2-Mid-day
x3-before bed

Creatine after workouts Cycle 2 weeks on 2 weeks off and so on.. works for me best that way.

so say you are going to work out when you get off work, you should drink one before work, one with your lunch, then one after you work out in the evening?

you dont have to do it that way, thats just how it works for tofu. its always good to have one right after you workout to help your muscles grow, and maybe an hour or so before you workout to help give you energy for your workout.

if you have muscle milk, take that before you go to sleep, and it helps you have a more anabolic sleep. it really helps a lot.

These slow-digesting formulas are good b/c you're not eating a meal every 3 hours while you're asleep. Slow proteins allow your body to keep repairing muscle (this is what makes you bigger/stronger) for a longer period after you go to sleep. So it's not varying your metabolism or knocking you out: it's just helping your body grow.

It's not an effect that only MM has, though - you can get the same thing from eating cottage cheese before bed, as well. And yes, it probably is more a diet/nutrition thing, but it's good to know.
got it off extreme fitness.

just take your protein right after your workout and about 30 mins before bed (so you wont feel too bloated while you try to sleep)

it doesnt matter what protein source it is, but a protein shake (made with water) will be less filling and allow you to consume the other foods you may still need to consume that day for your diets.

its important not to consume too many protein shakes a day for certain people because doing so will make it more difficult to consume the other important components of a diet such as carbohydrates, fats and vegetable foods, which for certain people must come from natural sources, which may also mean taking in larger than normal amounts.

sticking to a post workout and pre bed-time routine should be most beneficial for most, especially those on a specific caloric/nutrient diet.

it depends on your goals, taking in that many protein shakes probably leaves you without an appetite for full/regular meals. for bulking up, i wouldnt recommend it. but to slim down, it should help you slim up.

winter is coming up and most people are bulking up, so for me im eating on a somewhat normal schedule and taking 0-2 shakes a day. (yeah, some days i dont even take a shake if i feel i've had enough protein from meats/bean/soy foods.

you shouldnt dip your calorie intake too low, especially if you still want to gain muscle with your training. that is where cardio comes in.

I'm just talking about substating dinner on my off nights with a protein shake, then maybe doing a very light work out, one set of each in between my work out days. Or would that be bad?
and cardio, I smoke and I'm lazy lol

replacing a evening meal is typically good since you will be cutting carbs. and dont expect to see gains any time soon without a good cardio regimine, especially if you're sitting around smoking and storing calories.

Accually
I only work out once a week and people I havn't seen for a month are like damn, have you been working out.
When I was in high school I worked out with the football team and I found out that I build muscle real quick for some reason, I wasn't even taking anything then. But I see what you are saying, I plan on shaping up some more this winter when there isn't so many parties
