Steve Yzerman's long career has come to an end. Some may not of heard but Yzerman retired July 3, after 23 years in the NHL. He was a captain for 19 of those years, longest ever. Yzerman played like a true gentleman on the ice, and was respected by all. He had a true passion for the game, and kept himself in the shape needed to continue to play with the kids of the league. Yzerman stuck around through the bad time and was rewarded. Yzerman played his entire career for the Red Wings, hats off for that. There is no question that Yzerman will go into the hall of fame, he is a true great. I met Steve Yzerman and he is a very nice guy. So I just have to say, thank you Steve Yzerman for all you did for the city of Detroit.
