had you actually read it, you would see that the focus of it IS to drop your body fat %, and provides work outs and meal plans to help accomplish that goal.
but, as far as doing ab exercises goes, you will get results. if you make the muscles larger, they'll protrude more and be more visible if you have a low enough body fat %. weighted exercise ball crunches, hanging knee raises and seated jack-knifes (basically a v-up) are some of what they suggest.
