FUCK! damn S2K windows
So I got my car washed yesterday, right? Everything's cool... I get off work and walk out to my car, hop in and start it up. It's nice outside, so I put the top down. I drop both windows and drive home.
My drivers side window has that problem they put the TSB out on... where the auto down function stops working. It's not really that big of a deal to me, so I never fixed it.
Well I drive around for a few hours, go out to dinner with my parents, hit up the local tuner "hot spot" for Friday... Never put the top back up, or the windows, until I got home.
Well, I pull into my driveway, put the top up... then I roll up my windows. The driver's side goes up just fine, as it always has... but the passenger window doesn't go up at all. Neither switch works... neither the drivers side or the passenger side. Again, the driver's side window switch works just fine, and the window goes up. the passenger side switches dont move the window at all.
So I left it there overnight (luckily it didn't rain or anything)... I come outside to go to work this morning... and a bird shit on my trunk... Freshly cleaned, and a bird shits on it and my window stops working... WTF did I do to deserve that?
But anyway... I'm assuming it's the window motor itself... I can't hear it try to run when pushing the switches. I'll have to wait until I get home this afternoon to check it out, as I dont have the tools at work to rip off my door panel and test it out. It's weird though, because I never experienced any symptoms or warnings that the motor might soon go out... nothing. It was always well working and quick/powerful.
Anyone got any other ideas as to what might be wrong? maybe an S2000 nuance I dont know about yet? I've read many threads on S2KI about the S2K's windows sucking... so I guess this is just another case.
ARRRGG it pisses me off!!

must be the power window motor.
If you get out the door panel, and touch the power window motor and its hot, its fried.
Fuse?

alright, I went through the car tonite to try to narrow down the problem.
checked the fuses first... both are okay.
so I pulled off the panel... I hooked up some wires to the battery, and I checked the window motor. Bypassing the switch, it works. I was able to move the window up and down from the direct connection with the battery.
So now I'm working my way backwards. I got out the snap-on multimeter and checked the switch in the passenger door for continuity... and it came out okay.
The only two things left in the circuit is the driver's door switch and the convertible top control unit. The top still goes up and down, and it still moves the driver's side window while moving the top. So I dont think it's that.
Tomorrow I'm gonna check out the driver's door switch, make sure it's got continuity for the switch concerning the passenger window. Otherwise I'm gonna have to buy a new one.
I remember seeing that TSB about the poor ground connection in the driver's door, that could fuck with the window... but I was of the impression it only affected the driver's side window... maybe it could do the pass. side too??
I dunno, I'm putting my money on the driver's door switch. I'm guessing somethings wrong in there. I mean, if the fuses, motor, pass. side switch, and convertible top ctrl unit are all good, then it's gotta be that, since it's the last thing in the circuit.
Thank God for that link to the S2K service info we got... haha.

alright... tonite I went and checked out the driver's side master switch. It had NO continuity. so, as I predicted, I believe this is the problem. Now I figure I'll order a new switch from Majestic and see if that does the trick.
of course, Majestic wants $90 goddamn dollars for the switch... ugh.
Anyone know how this could have happened? it's just so weird... it works just fine, a few hours later... it doesn't. WTF?

Hmm..did you try to trouble shoot the switch itself?
like it's solder points and wiring connection points?
anyways..good thing it's now fixed.
I was sitting inside of a S2000 for 5 mins at the dealer waiting for my friend..
and god damn, i fit in all nicely and all, but I was geting uncomfortable in that thing! jeesus!
I am 5'11 190lbs, my god...
how do you people deal with this car?

yeah I tested the original switch for continuity. it didn't have any. so yeah, it needed a new one... and that did the trick. Kinda weird, that only with 40K on it the switch goes out... but I guess sometimes things go bad... whatever, it's fixed.
and man, you're about my size (i'm like 5'11" and 180lbs) and I fit just fine... very comfy... although, going on long trips and stuff, spending anymore than 3 hours driving in that thing, it gets very uncomfortable... there's really not a lot of room to move around.
