APEXi AFC Neo INSTALLED
I just finished installing the APEXi Neo in my car with a Boomslang harness... I'm really impressed with it. It looks like it's gonna be a fun little tool... the current mounting location is only temporary, until I find a better way to do it... I really like it being there, but it's held on with the included velcro... so I think I might buy the bracket and put it in the same place.... just so it doesn't seem ghetto or anything.
Either way, I'm gonna go have it tuned next week sometime... it'll be interesting to see what kind of increases I'll see with it.
I'm really impressed with the build quality of the Boomslang harness, too... I'd recommend that to ANYONE. aside from the fact it's kinda large, and there isn't room down under that kick panel for it... so the kick panel is kinda bulging out now... but oh well.

Looks pretty cool in there. post up when yo uget it tuned and let us know how functional it is. I had a boomslang harness when i tuned my gsr last year. that thing is pretty solid although its stiff and kinda large. my kick panel also bulged a bit. i was affraid to bend the harness a bit so it kinda stuck out but not much luckily. I have no complaints about that harness and would reccomend it to anybody asking for one. arent they still one of our sponsers?

yeah the build quality on the boomslang harness was pretty impressive... I only wish it weren't so bulky, which is my only complaint. There's absolutely no room in the S2000 for it, so my assumption is that Boomslang Fab. never tested it 'in car'... kinda disappointing, but I'll manage.
I drove around with it today, messed with it a little bit... I didn't bother trying to street tune it or anything, so the only things that're working right now are all the monitors and the vtec control. I like being able to see an exact rpm in digital form (rather than the stock S2000's guage... which I've now noticed is kind of off...) and the throttle position %... that's really interesting to see, as I've now noticed most of my normal driving is done under 30% throttle... just a cool thing to watch while driving I guess. The other monitors are battery voltage (good to know, since the S2K's gauge cluster doesn't have a voltage gauge) and a correction %, which hasn't done anything since it's not tuned yet.
one thing I do like about this one, is that it's got a reversible screen... so if I wanted to flip it and have the controls on the right instead of the left, the screen would flip too... it also has an array of color choices for both the button illumination and the color screen background... which is kinda cool, although I just left it blue (and it's pretty close to matching the rollcage and my stereo)
I'm interested to see what kind of gains I'll get out of it... A lot of the other members on S2KI have said while they only gained maybe 3 to 5 peak horsepower, it provided an addition 10-15 in the lower portion of the rpm band... a place where the S2000 could really use the power.
so i guess we'll wait and see!

i never tuned with a vafc it was never reccomended to me. then again you dont have that aggressive a build do you? i went straight to the hondata s200 for the tune. but i have seen the vafc have alot of tunable features but i dont know. have you seen if your throttle position % hits a hundred when you floor it?? you could adjust your cable accordingly now.

yeah the throttle % hits 100 when I floor it.
and no, I dont have an aggressive build... it's all stock, minus the exhaust. I dont plan on doing much, either... a multi-spark ignition system and a few minor bolt ons... nothing fancy. So the AFC should work perfectly with my plans.
I'm reading through the manual right now... this thing does all sorts of crap... a lot more than I originally thought.

Sounds like a nice toy. How much did you pay for it + the harness? I was thinking about getting one as well when I first heard they came out.

I got it off eBay for $270 or so brand new... I couldn't find a better deal on it anywhere, and I hate using eBay... but that was like almost $100 cheaper than anywhere else I could find it.
the harness was $146 straight from Boomslang
