Wheel and tire sizes

from socalrsxforums.com

posted by fumitani:

SX bolt pattern 5x114.3

Center bore is 64.1 (you'll need to get a xx to 64 center ring)

Lug nut size 12x1.5 for the rsx

What sizes would my stock rims fit on
205/55/16 <<--(would be the only size for azenis on stock rims)
225/50/16

Recommended After Market Tire Sizes:

Tire size calculator: http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html

205/50/17
225/45/17
245/40/17 (might rub)
225/40/18
245/35/18 (might rub)
225/35/19
235/35/19 (what i ran for a while)
245/30/19 (might rub)
225/30/20

Air Pressure: Front 33lbs
Rear 31lbs

Recommended After Market Rim Sizes:

Wheel Offset Calculator: http://toy4two.home.mindspring.com/offset.html

17 x 7 offset 33-50
17 x 7.5 offset 35-45
18 x 7.5 offset 35-45
18 x 8 offset 35-45
19 x 7.5 offset 35-45
19 x 8.0 offset 35-45

i'm not sure about 20's never tried fitting them on yet

I get a lot of questions about the stock tires. Yes the are a piece of junk please change them ASAP.

I would recommend Yokohama AVS ES 100 they are a very good high performance all round tire. They should not run any more than 400 installed.

Any other things I should add to this please PM me or AIM

FYI:

Forging (including SSF which is a true forging) results in a much stronger wheel. The wheel can therefore be made lighter than a cast wheel, while still maintaining superior strength. Multi-piece forged wheels have forged centers and spun rims. Sometimes the rims are spun from forged metal, sometimes they are not. Ask the wheel manufacturer which technique they use to make their rim sections.

Casting can be done in a number of ways. The most prevalent are gravity casting (pour the metal into a mold), vaccuum (counter-pressure) casting (suck the metal up into a mold) and low-pressure casting.

Relative wheel strengths are as follows: 1-piece forged, multi-piece forged, vaccuum cast, low-pressure cast, gravity cast. The strengths are only relative because weight (or actual mass) affects a wheel's strength, as does the actual design. Vaccuum (counter-pressure) casting is used almost exclusively by BBS for most of their wheels. Revolution wheels are an example of low-pressure casting designs.
