Ho's next car plan...ideas?
well, I am posting this in RSX section as I picked out RSX to be my next car.
But here is a catch.
I am looking forword to get RSX base model.
why? cheaper insurence for sure. and also..
because I know I'll mod this car to the max with my money limits..so might as well start from the base, like most of people do with civic's...
What is your take on me getting the base model RSX?
BTW, I am looking forword to get 02~04 models, no 05 and up, blah.
EDIT: first mod will be drop + hella flush. and stock everything until I have everything I want under the hood

Man to be honest ho, even if hte base is much cheaper and insurance is cheaper I've yet to see very many if at all NA bases running anything that is impressive. Unless boosted the base IMO got screwed badly from Honda becuase its just plain slow.

that's what i was thinking. On Civics people plan on swapping. With a base RSX you're just going to upgrade to the RSX-S motor. It's kinda like buying an LS teg and then swapping to a GSR but a bigger difference.

The fastest 5spd NA rsx I've seen ran a 14.67 and that was with a shitload of mods. If you just want something thats somewhat quicka nd looks good hten go for it. But really whats your limit anyways?

hmm, i forgot to mention..
I am going to keep the stock motor in there until I can have my preperation for K24 block and K20a head, so basically everything under the hood will get transplant. with type-r 6-spd tranny + 1.5 LSD..
I am going all out with this car, kinda like one of my dreams..
ooh yeah, I need to change the gauge cluster too!
so, only mods I will have on the car for long while will be drop+flush and maybe the gaugecluster swap with type-S until I have the funds for the k24/k20 + turbo....
my goal out of this is 300+hp/250+tq
hopefully I can reach that.
anywhooo, now that you know what I want to do with this car..
pro's and cons besides the unreliability of turbo?

its gonna be a lot of money for all that, but if you can handle it go for it. you can get some pretty damn good numbers out of the base engine if you boost it. i would say go with that rather than trying to go all na.

youre gonna buy a relatively new car to change the engine out for another. why not just start with the car that has the engine already?

Because he has a slight problem with buying somebody elses work...its an ego thing, a good few of us have it.
Personally i think you should roll a TSX, the RSX type-S don't seem to be worth the time and money for the product you will recieve for it...unless your liek khang ( or however you spell his name ) and boost it.
The reason i say TSX is because you look huge in an RSX...plus your infactuation with the TL should be settled a bit if you get a TSX....bah anyways...see where the military money gets you first...

haha, yes sir.
I do look kinda huge in civic/integra in general, but I am only 5'11"/185 lbs...
but I look big in them anyways..talk about Clone looking big in S2000 of his
Anyways, yes, Boost is my option for now when I am looking for 350+hp/250+tq out of this motor line up..who knows? I might be able to get my hands on the factory turbo manifold from that new Acura RDX with K23 turbo or something, I think they would have the same port size

02~04 models in two years = going to be 2008 or so, so we looking at 4~6 year old car, and I really don't care about milage on the car as long as it runs good and has no body demage..
unless you want to help me buy EVO10....hush.

You should really consider a type-s, with all your plans for the rsx, a lot of them can be more easily achieved in a type-s. The base is very slow and sluggish, if you got the type-s, there are a lot of resources and mods you can use to help your project goals. I would recommend straying away from the base model since a lot of owners have either given up on modding it, switched to a type-s, or have spent a lot of money and time modding it when the money could have been saved with the already mod-popular -s.

you are nuts...
link me to your resources and prove me wrong about this.[we talking about DC-5 Type-R, not DC-2 Type-R..]
so, even though I plan to switch almost everything out under the hood, I should still go with the Type-S?
the stupid K20a3 is coming out before I make any engine mods.
Hmm, maybe I sould go with type-S over the base..but I am still not convinced enough why base model is so bad for modding when the motor will be swapped...
maybe TSX....

back up your state ment logan.
why is it a waste? because you never seen it done before or what?
I know K20 in EG6 would be a killer, but it's still a civic.
and tell me how I would get up to the power range I am looking for with N/A with out spending 30 large on the motor..
then I'd agree with you.

If you're going to just take the motor out before mods then why bother? A legit type-S motor is going to cost you anywhere in the 4000+ range not to mention tranny. You're looking overall paying more to just get the base up to S standards Ho just to save on insurance (which honestly isn't going to be a huge difference being that the base is still considered a "sports car" just like hte S)
