No start 89 Prelude SI

Hello everybody my first try at this!!! I have a 89 Prelude si. I removed my distributor due to a oil leak. My problem is I can't start the car when i have it all back together. I know I have spark and I know I have fuel. It cranks over and there is no firing. It almost seems that I'm 180 deg. out but my rotor matches up with my compression stroke on the cylinders when I turn it by hand. Any help would be great, I'm really perplexed on this one!!!!Thanks

sounds to me like theres something off in the dizzy. check the cap for cracks and stuff and just remove the dizzy and re-install it and make sure the fireing order is correct on it. make sure its completely dry as well. just cuz the car cranks doest mean there is spark.

I changed out the the cap and rotor. My firing order looks correct when turned by hand. The car just turns and pumps gas but no fire. I have spark when I pull the plugs and look in a dark garage. My distributor has a mark on it so I know I'm in the right area for placement. Still no firing at all

is the engine flooded maybe with gas from all the cranking and gas pouring in?

one time this happened to me i sat there full throttle and started the car.

it turned over and smoke bellowed out the back as if all that gas had just started to burn and then it ran fine.

best way to see if you have spark is to pull the ignition wire but not the plug out put a long screw driver in it set it down on the top rad support for ground then go turn the key and see if it sparks.

if you have spark and you have the correct dizzy timming then it could be a fuel issue.

89 Honda Prelude Si

Alright, I went through everything again. My spark to #1 cyl. is correct, I hooked up a timing light. My rotor and wires are all correctly positioned. I don't think it's flooded, I do smell fuel so I think I'm getting some fuel. I'm thinking that I'm getting the fuel but it's coming at the wrong time. Now keep in mind I did nothing to the fuel system, the car ran great when I pulled it in the garage. I looked in my manual and the only thing I can find is a ECU problem, output ignition signal, or a clogged fuel filter? Go figure? Any help would be much appreciated with this mess.

did your fuel distributor properly installed when you put it back again? we all knew that our distributor aids in the proper injection of fuel into the engine. improper installation could be the cause that the fuel coming out at the wrong time.
