need some help. electrical problem?
ok guys i need some help with this one.
lately when my car is running and my headlights are off, all is fine. but when my headlights are on and i try and come to a stop, or are just idling, my rpms drop down to about 300 then back up to normal, then down and up and keeps doing it. its nothing like the fitv or iacv i know the symptoms of that. its only when my headlights are on. i just got a new radar detector today (beltronics RX65) and it shows the voltage too. well when the car is running the alternator is putting out around 14.3 which is good. but when i turn on the headlights, it only drops to about 14.2 then right back up to 14.3. so i know its not the alternator. im confused about what the problem could be. i dunno if it has anything to do with it, but i have a chipped p28 in there right now, and one of the things it doesent support is the ELD. could that be a possibility? i ben playing with this for a little while now (a few days) and cant come up with anything. i am a technician, so its not like i dont know what im doing, i just cant pinpoint the problem.
any help is greatly appreciated here guys. thanks in advance.

ok nevermind. it is at work. i just realized that it wont do it unless i drove the car though. if i just start it up and then turn on the lights, it bogs down a bit (like normal when an electric load is applied), but it wont do the idle, or the almost stall thing.

:S sounds like your battery isnt holding its charge. take it to autozone or something and get a free diagnostic done on it.

i dont have a/c, but if i have the headlights, heat, defogger, wipers, and radio on, i still have 14 volts in the end.
