stubborn sunroof opening...

My sunroof opens smoothly for about the first 30% of the way and then after that is loud and opens stubbornly...I looked and on the left side of the tracks right about where it slows down is weird: it looks like a little piece of melted metal or something is slowing it down...DXE and me spent like 20 minutes trying to pick it out but every time we got close, it slipped and its basically impossible to take it out and i have no idea how to disassemble the sunroof...any thoughts? maybe anything to spray on or anything? i already tried wd40 didnt work

it closes and opens fine and not slow, it just like a little more than halfway through, it kinda sputters and makes loud like thud-thud-thud noises cuz the rubber is like getting stuck on something - that little piece of metal...all i'm lookin for a is a way to make it smooooov

that's probably what I would do... or a file to smooth it out. maybe you can chip away at it with a hammer/metal chisel and then smooth it with a file...

Is it the "shim" that is causing this? Try removing the stay cover; it has a cap so pop it out and the losseing it.

You can get pic in ch. 20-32

My sister's Lude has the same problem. She hasn't bothered to get it checked yet. But when I drive it, it really pisses me off.

Mine lagged really bad.

I blew both worm lines out with 120psi compressed air then lubricated the entire length of the rails, the flip up forward deflector hinges, the very edge of the sealing sweep on the deflector and drive screws with Genie brand "Screw Drive Garage Door Opener Lubricant".

It opens and closes very fast now and without being labored.

Also blow out the open and close switch assembly (can be done in place).
