wetsanded HL's...problem help

gay crap...i bought a headlight restoration kit today and it was all good until it came time to polish it.....it looks like it took care of the yellowness/rough texture and all that but now its a clean kind of gray murky, like when you try to dry them with a wet towel...and the polish that came with the kit won't get it off! anyone have any suggestions?

What grit paper was it? 1500? 2000? Run to Pepboys and pick up a bottle of 3M Professional Fine-Cut Rubbing Compound. Work with that for a bit and they will clean up. Then top it off with some Mother's Plastic Polish.

the kit was 1000, 1500, 2000, 2500...it actually got a little better tonight when I got some Mother's Liquid Wax from a friend of mine but its still not as clear as I want it...i'll put more elbow grease and time into it tomorrow to see the outcome. Thanks for the response, i'll keep it in mind if it doesn't work
