Catalytic Converter for 98 lude
I have a 98 lude and the cat has seen better days. I say that cause my CEL is on and the code is 67 which says either bad O2 sensor or bad cat. I replaced the O2 sensor, reset the ECU and the light still came back on. And the exhaust is making a loud rattling noise suggesting the cat.
My question is: is it worth it to get an aftermarket cat? I am really looking for a bolt on (not welding) that can still pass California emissions. What brands are good that meet this criteria?

go with a carsound cat. You will gain hp and you will pass emissions or so i have been told. www.kteller.com you can pick them up there. Just let them know what car you got and they will fix it up for you.  |

if you have a 98, there are 2 o2 sensors. maybe look into replacing the other one. then clear the codes and see if it comes back. if it comes back again, there is something ilse wrong. you could have a short or an open in a wire. i dont think thats the case tho.

well I've been told that if the cat is making a rattling noise, that means that the inside material is loose and its in need of replacment. And last night it was really loud in low rpm.

he tends to have VERY good customer service. But since it is the weekend i would give him atleast a couple days during the week before you expect a response. |

On the 5th gen there are 2 O2 sensors, one before the cat and one after the cat. It might be because its OBD II.
