my stupid ass mistake tonight

ever eonder what that little plug between the trans and the block are...the one that lets you see the flywheel timing? well its there to keep dirt and shit out, but when does dirt get into there anyway? well i dont have one of those, it somehow got lost after my swap.

tonight i was playing with my car, trying to get the iol pressure gauge to read the oil pressure. there is a bolt on the exhaust side of the head right around the corder from the distributor and i heard that you can hook a sending unit up to that. to i pulled that screw out and screwed in my oil pressure sending uint and hooked up the wire and nothing happened so i figured that maybe i was wrong and that wasnt an oil pressure spot. so i removed the sending unit and there was no oil on it. i figured id disconnect the ignition coil wire and have someone else crank the engine to see if iol came out. well guess what...i had a cigarette, ate dinner and then continued my work and forgot to unplug the coil wire i had someone crank it and i told them "just crank it, it wont start. just hold the key." well not only was my starter grinding, but the car started and spewed oil all over the place. the person i had helping gets out of the car and says "i thought you said it wont start" i was like "fuck, i didnt disconnect the wire" and i quick ran over and killed the key. i was sooooo pissed.

well since this bolt hole was literally directly above where that little black plug for the tranny goes, all kinds of oil went right into the clutch housing and all over the clutch. luckily, after i drove it, the clutch didnt slip in low rms goin up a hill or anything, but its not as snappy when im speed shifting. im hoping that the oil burns off, not all of the oil went in there, but alot of it. well, needless to say, i finally found a reason that plug is there

another thing. i was so low on oil that i had to add some. i didnt feel like adding some just to change it in like another 500 miles so i just changed it all together. i went with mobile 1 synthetic btw. how much oil are these engines supposed to take? my h22 takes 5 1/2 quarts. is that what the usdm ones take? i never realized this. im still a half quart low. i got the 5 quart jug of mobile 1 from walmart and figured id have a half a quart left over for that halfway point to the next oil change when theyre usually a half quart low. i know most hondas take 4 to 4.5 quarts usually.

it'll cook off eventually, but with the oil on there if you slip the clutch enough it'll probably be easier to glaze.

well it doesent slip really, its kinda not as touchy as it used to be, its a stage 1 clutch with an 8 pound flywheel, so the clutch itself isnt that much more agressive then stock, but you can defenately notice a difference. right now, it feels like a brand new stock clutch but with more clamping force. thats the best way that i can describe it.
