problem

i have an 01 prelude with 78,000, i was driving it one day, a friend wanted to drive it so i got out left it running and moved into the passanger seat. he got in and it wasn't running. tried to start it, and it just had a whinning sound(changed the starter, wasn't it). i have dug into it, the motor is fine, there are not any codes that are popping up, and when it died it didnt make any noises, no lights came on, nothing, it just died. i have checked the main stuff, spark, fuel, timing belt(and to also to see if it skipped a tooth), ohmed out some of the relays, checked the fuses, but im running out of idea's, and i was looking for some input, maybe somebody has ran into this before.

battery. if your starter isn't doing anything at all... then yeah, my best guess would be a cell in your battery died. It seems like you've already checked everything else

I've seen it many times before, where all but one battery cells works... so your stereo, lights, everything electronic will still work with no problem, but it doesn't have enough power to start the car.

Happened to me with my 01. That or the ignition recall are your best bets. Check the voltage on the battery. Try charging it. If it sounds like it's bubbling, you have a dead cell.
