Pspec shortshifter review and install review

So it was a nice sunny day and we all know what that means..

mod the car time yeah mod the car time!

anyway so I head out with my Pspec shortshifter kit and the 13 page instruction I printed from the website and I get started

the entire install took me about 2 hours this included me dicking around on my phone and a like 30minute lunch break

Tools needed were basic.
10mm
12mm
phillis head
Visegrips some big ones
flathead for prying
something to trim plastic with
all allens were included in the kit

anyway so everything fine with the instuctions till we get to the point where you have to remove the retaining clip for the main shift cable.

The instructions suggest using a hammer and punch to get this started so I tried that after 5 minutes I said "fuck this noise" use the flat head pryed it out as much as I couldfrom behind the clip. Watch your hands there are screws that end back there and I have a small indent in my hand becuase I got a little carried away with my prying . Anyway you should be able to move the clip a good inch or 2 this is enough to slap a pair of grips on, lock the grips on to the small part of the clip you pushed out, open your passenger door grab and pull.. easy as pie and don't have to worry about hammers and punchs and all that other shit.

after that instructions are good until the infamous part.

The part where you have to do the magically voodoo dance to "break the shifter from the base"

FUCK THAT NOISE it's easy as pie

If you look at the shifter there are 4 clips holding the top part of the 2 plastic pieces in place. Just use that little tool they give you. and give it a good whack in place this will open the 2 clips on the side you used it on AND if you gave it a good enough whack you will notice that the clips on the other side are pushing up, take a flat head and just whack out the clips and the shifter comes on it 2 minutes flat

other then that the trimming takes a little bit to get it right but you can get it all nice and done. Also you MAY want to trim the passenger side on the top JUST a tad becuase in 5th gear the shifter pushes on the center console just a tiny bit, you cant notice it when driving and you dont even feel it but when I was going thru the gears I could hear it. Basically the screw you use when you reinstall the main shifter cable is a little longer you can either trim the plastic around the shift base or just shorten the screw a tad, I'll probably trim the plastic at a later date.

Other then those 3 amendments instructions on the site are fine and make isntallation easy.

Overall feel is AWESOME, the shifts are a lot shorter. I no longer have to hunt for 5th gear its right there. All the shifts quick very short throws reverse is perfect.

Quality is top notch as well, I order the whole kit, knob, shift boot and shifter.
The packaging could have been better I notice in the pictures it came with a nice box, so I was just a tad wondering why mine came in a big cylinder tube with packing popcorn and plastic bags but yeah I was still happy as fuck when I got it. The shifter itself is a very nice piece very studry and well made, the boot is a nice tough leather and have a good feel to it. The knob is a BIT on the small side for some people. I love it fits great in my hand it's a wieghted knob so makes shifting that much easier.

Shipping and delievery were good took about 3 weeks from the order to get here but I ordered on a sunday of a holiday weekend so that is probably why mine took so long, once I got the tracking number thru e-mail it was here in 2 days flat.

so all in all, looks a lot better then stock, makes the car a lot more fun and easier to drive and I got to wrench on the car in nice weather overall a great product and a good time

now I jsut gotta save a few more hundred for my tein flex's!
