for the most part, yeah, they just leave it.
some guys put 2.5rs hoods, but those hoods arent aluminum
some put reverse scoops.
i figure leaving the scoop allows air to enter the engine bay, cooling the turbo and whatnot

u guys mean 'drop vents'
heat. ur car in ur sig has one
like dmax bonnets etc.
personally i think they look better
u get reverse pressure so having a standard wrx 'scoop' without the intercooler being there doesnt do much in terms of engine bay temps. it tends to cause turbulence in the air flow.
hence rear raised louvers have their place here.
take for example v-mount setups on nissans heat. intercooler is parallel to the ground but they still use a drop vent, it keeps the airflow going from frontend to back of the hood. the air is effectively 'sucked out' due to the pressure difference between above hood and under hood.

NSX-R as well, although that car has a wicked duct that's under the hood leading down to the front bumper. The underside of the car is sealed up like a Ferrari and any air that hit the front bumper get diverted to the brakes and or radiator, then up through the duct, out through the hood and over the windshield. That with the NSX-Rs functional rear wing allowed that car to totally have a new handling persona JUST from areo.......gotta love it

well, it's not exactly a drop vent because it's just another part "on top" of exsisting hood.
and I was thinking the same thing, I don't think it was designed[the reverse scoop] to have the air flow effectively enough to mave it as a "air vent"
