Koni Yellows and H&R Sports

OK so granted this has to be the most common mod with the most common parts ever but all I know is when I was doing my research it was surprisingly hard to find reviews of the install and performance of these components. So here's mine....

I got my rental spring compressors, tools and parts ready to go. As usual a good penetrating lubricant is a must.

I used a great how-to on HT so I'll spare you the details included in this DIY, but here's the essential tunes / quick reference station in the garage

are anybody else's hubs this F'ing rusty???

This is the stuff they don't mention in the Integra installs I took a few hours to do this right...just opened up the holes I had in there already and put the shift boots over it

Just 3 bolts in the back ...

Compressing the springs was a bitch, and getting the top hats off was one of those points where I was sure I was doing something wrong. But in the end setting it up like this helped. Either use the box or the threaded compressor posts to stop the alan wrench and break the bolts with your adjustable

I used the dust boots again but I don't have a dremel so I used the corner of my metal file to take 2mm off the diameter of this hole.

Having assembled IKEA furniture earlier in the day I was ready for gibberish instructions but Konis are pretty useless. This is the order of things (almost forgot the top hat washer so it's chopped in there)

Here are the size differences between OEM and H&R...not too different

Just when I thought I was getting there....

I tapped the 14mm LCA bolt through the bushing with the BFH and POP this happened

Koni is sending me some nylon insert nuts but said the popped off ones should be fine if properly torqued (which they are)

And here's the finished product

Here is a picture of the OEM ride height to compare...

It's tough to tell because I took the pictures at different heights, but I went from a 3-4 finger gap to a 0-2 finger gap. Looks and feels good...no rubbing at all.

So far I've only taken a few on-ramps and spun around a bit in a parking lot but I am happy. These springs are pretty mild, and progressive so on the street they ride like stock until you hit a decent bump or really dig in the turns. Handling is noticeably better with decreased body roll, dive and pitch, and the ability to hold a nice flat attitude. Sunday I'll put it to the test at my autoX

I should be telling you about my sway bar install too but passwordJDM is being retarded. At least I'll get to compare before and after.
