CG Lock

ive had a problem with the sti since i made my car purchase. the seats. although they have great fabric, are pretty comfortable and have good side bolstering, they just are not supportive enough, the side bolsters arent agressive enough to keep me from fighting to stay in the seat in the twisties.

so, i started looking at aftermarket seats. but, the ones i like are all in the $1000 dollar range. plus, i would have to lose my side airbags. although, i would love to have some status spa seats in blue. anybody wanna hook me up?

so, since it was a no go with the seats, ive decided that a harness would be in my best interest. so then i had to thin down the list to where i could find something suitable for my needs. i saw 4 inch harnesses, 3 inch harnesses, 6 point, 5 point, 4 point, 3 point, buckle and cam lock harnesses, all of which ranged in price from over $400 to about $130. i also saw the short and long harnesses, the long ones could be bolted behind the rear seat cushion, and the short ones needed a harness bar. a harness bar runs from 500-700 bucks. what i really wanted was something that was easily removable, since i do use my back seats alot. maybe a harness is a bit much for my needs.

i did some more searching and i found something that looked decent, and more importantly wasnt very expensive. its called a CG Lock. it cinches the lap portion of the belt and keeps your ass planted. i ordered one up, it was like 40 bucks, so i thought it was worth a shot. i got it today in the mail, and god damn, it works just as advertised. it took me like 2 mintues to install and i went to my favorite neighborhood twisties. automatically i feel alot more confident in the turns. i can feel the car better and i feel more connected.

granted its not as supportive as a full harness, but for a fraction of the price, it sure doesnt hurt.

wow great review. ive never heard of them before, and would maybe consider getting one (2 if im feeling generous when i order for the passenger). do they really hold you better, or is it just uncomfortable. personally, i think real shoulder harnesses are VERRY comfy. how are these things?

well, think of a full harness lap belt.

thats what its like. it keeps your ass planted.

granted, if i didnt need my back seats, i would just get a harness, but this is just so much easier.

it literally takes 2 minutes to install.

I'm told these come stock on some cars, like the Corvette.
Man I could have used it on the track...I was exhausted just from trying to stay in my seat. Since then I got new seats though.
