New car - 2008 G35x - Slate Blue
So I bit the bullet, a die hard Honda / Acura man and I bought an Infiniti. The short story is we were turing in the Wife's TL 6spd and we wanted another Honda but there's nothing they make right now that really excites us. The only sedan we like is the TL type S but I can't imagine buying the same basic car.
So I know this thread is worthless without photos (they're coming soon) but I figured I'd get a post going. The car is an AWD premium with the Navi and Technology packages. My likes and dislikes right now are.....
Likes:
Keyless operation
AWD
Power is great, feels slightly faster than my TL 6spd. Not much faster than I thought but that’s probably due to the G being heavier and not have a 6spd
XM NAV traffic
Handles more like a rear drive sedan, no more under-steer and torque steer.
Distance sensing cruise control
Funky swivel headlights
Rear camera
CF reader (also on my dislike list)
Hard Drive (also on my dislike list)
Auto up on all the windows
Telescoping wheel
Dislikes (compared to my ’04 TL):
No AWD with 6spd!!!!!!!!!!!
Smaller trunk (I can’t fit a double stroller)
Navi is hands down more difficult to use with a smaller screen set too far back for the touch screen to be useful. The functionality is so much better on the TL, unless you have used the Acura one you won’t understand
Your home address in the phone book can be displayed without entering a password (very bad for valet parking)
CF reader / XM / radio / changer can’t record to the hard drive!!!!!!! I need to use the single slot cd player and even that will have to be in CDA format, not mp3.
Bluetooth phone doesn’t announce the incoming phone number, it just rings.
Interior is narrower
Back seat headroom is not as good
225 tires as opposed to beefier 235s on TL
No Brembo brakes (even on the sport)
Front seats don’t match???? I know the driver seat has more support but why not make the passenger the same way??

Nice pick up its deff a sexy car. Did you take a look at the 5 series from bmw?? I think there close to being in the same price. Friend of mine just picked it up and it sounds like you would have enjoyed this car just from reading your likes and dislikes. He got his with the m5 packaged so its got the cross drilled rotors, huge rims, a ton of trunk space, wide interior, navigation which is pretty easy to use with, i believe it has the swivel headlights, wide stance for better cornering, beefy brakes etc. what were some of the factors you used when deciding on th g35x? Ive seen it i like the car its pretty damn sexy. Sounds like you wanted a really sporty sedan and im sure once you get used to the car youll have fun driving around. If im not mistaken the tl and the g are in the same class are they not?
Again good luck with it hope you both enjoy the car as much as i know you enjoyed the tl.

The problem with the BMWs is the price range. I think a base 5 series starts at 41K but that's a shit car, start adding some options and you'll be around 55-60K. If your friend got an M5 than forget it, he paid around 88K. That car has more than drilled rotors, it has a bad ass V10. The BMW that competes with the G35x is a 3 series. More specifically the new 335ix, but that car with all the goodies we would have wanted is around 49K. We paid about 40K even for the G. The reason we went with that car is we wanted AWD and a mid-size sedan with tons of options. The IS350 is hot but if you want AWD then they make you get the smaller engine IS250. For the Acura, well the RL is the only AWD sedan and that's a slow "old man's" car

No my friend didnt get the m5 he got the 550 with the m5 package. My brother picked up an m6 for 1k a month. and i thought the g35 was up there with the 5 . Not as expensive as i thought but yea the 3 series is a bit more expensive now since the 1 series is on its way. And yea with the awd the g35x makes sense. 40k isnt bad and im sure you negotiated a ton of options on it.

I like it........ Not as much as I did when I first bought my TL but nevertheless it's a great car. It is an X, so the AWD traction is killer, but the little annoyances are starting to piss me off.
Hands down it's faster and handles better. But at a cost, it's smaller and not as spacious.
If I had the bucks the M45x would have been the way to go but that also is not a 6spd. Americans are lazy bitches and that's the major reason we don't get as many stick shift cars here, and that sucks ass!!

hey i switched from my 5spd and went to an auto. not cuz im lazy but cuz its not fun sitting on the bqe or the cross bronx with a 5spd. Traffic is a bitch it never moves. and how much was the m45? was the difference that huge?
