240sx brake question

We have recently replaced the brake pads in a friends nissan 240 sx, we got everything installed, bled the brakes, and even topped off the brake fluid, but the brake pedal, my friend says is way to soft and brakes dont really engage till the very bottom, does anyone have any suggestions, or ideas of what we may have done wrong, or something we forgot? Any help will be great

A soft and spongy feeling implies that there's air or a leak in the brake system.

edit: forgot maybe the master cylinder is bad

Thanks a lot. That's what we thought. We'll just bleed some more.

Thanks for the quick reply. +rep

pump the brakes see if pressure comes back or if any leaks happen, or bleed them all over again

you might have busted a line when replacing something. Check for leaks under the car.
