New to it all

I recently began to enter the street racing world as a driver. I've always watched racing of all types but never had a chance to participate other than ride alongs with my friends and their tuners. I'm stuck in a 1997 Dodge Intrepid (no modifications) and its obviously not the best car to race in. Out of the three races that I've had in it I've won two but i was also racing two really shitty drivers who don't know how to handle a car over 110mphs (<.< idiots) but i lost to a suped up Subaru Legacy(sorry about the confusion). But seeing as though I'm new to the tuner world I'm looking for any advice that you can give me. and a new car haha.

And it seriously isn't worth it when you're talking about racing cars that are lucky to get a 16 second time slip.

Pay the money, go to the track. At least you'll have a timeslip and can work on becoming a better driver (60' times are key in drag racing and you will have shitty ones on your first pass, guaranteed).

I am fully aware of the dangers of street racing. I may be young but I'm not stupid. As for paying the money to go to the track, I would gladly pay if i had the money but at the moment I'm broke. and on that note i need a new car first anyway. I'm not trying to be arrogant or an ass hole or any of that shit I'm only saying if i had it I'd do it but I don't so i can't. So until then I will be stuck on the street.

Then don't race at all because you sure as hell can't afford the impound fees.

I'm not worried about you getting hurt, I'm worried about the people that might get in the way.

Out here, if you're caught street racing (or whatever a police officer calls street racing), your car is not impounded. It is crushed.

Do you want your car(s) crushed? I sure as hell don't. I like building my cars. There are race tracks near you, and an SCCA license will cost you about the same as a tank of gas. It's worth it. Do it.

I understand that you're new to this, and it really shows, but you need to understand that street racing is one of the worst things you can do (for yourself and for us). Please, don't do it.

Other than that, what have you done to your cars? What modifications, swaps, or improvements are you familiar with? What's your background in autos?

I see what all of you are saying and I've taken it to heart. as for my car(s) right now I'm running a completely stock dodge intrepid. I'm looking to get a 91 CRX SI and tune it up and all that fun jazz. (and get rid of my Intrepid) as for my background in tuning and all. I'm fairly new to tuning myself but I've been around it all my life helping friends/family with their cars but I've never done one for myself. Other than that i really don't know what I'm doing other than driving and swapping/installing new parts (everything except a engine/Nitrous Oxide. . . I'm lost to that haha)

and on a side note I have a way to make legit cash. I'm designing websites/graphics so if TJ needs anything i can help (for free or stickers lol) I have about 4 years in web development/graphic design.
