Another rex... *sigh*
Hello TJ,
My name is Olivier, I'm 33, I live in south of France were I work for a company building custom tailored sailing boats, most of them out of carbon fiber.
Some of you may have already met me here and there, even if I spend most of my time on french forums, I like to join communities from different countries as it's a good way to open your mind to different ways of thinking, building cars, and using them. I heard about this place several times and I was really curious to see this particular forum, and all I can say is...wow. This place looks quite different than all the US forum I've been on.
But stop talking about me, here's my ride. It's a 1991 CRX VTEC (type EE8), I know it's a version that hasn't reached your shores, the main differences with your Si is of course the b16a1 engine, Y2 tranny (without lsd unfortunately), 4 disk brakes, different LCAs, suspension arms, and a few cosmetic details.
I bought it a few months ago, it's my 3rd honda (95' Civic sedan 1.6 sohc vtec, 98' Civic hatch 1.4is), and I must admit it's my preferred one.
Here are the mods I already made:
- DC2 recaro speed
- Spoon ECU
- Supersprint test pipe+catback
- Full energy suspension bushings conversion (not complete yet)
- energy suspension shift linkage bushings
- Goodridge stainless brake lines
- Endless brake pads (front)
That's all for now, my plan is to keep on using it as a dd, so no extreme modifying, but as it will surely hit the track on week-ends, I want a perfect chassis. So next step will be lighter wheels in 15", removing of some parts here and there, good set of coilovers (maybe modified bilstein b6), lighter flywheel and a ss exhaust header, mine is rusted to the bone.
Here are a few pics
before:
after:
pfeww, that's all for today, sorry for the long post and excuse if my english is not very good...

Very sexy car and welcome aboard. Make yourself at home here. I can name hundreds of people who wish they had imported that baby over here. Im sure its quick even though its got what you consider light modding. It seems like youve been following the site for some time now. You lurk alot here?? If you know about the joke you referenced in the title of your thread then you either lurk the site often or you know somebody on here. Welcome man and enjoy your stay.

I don't mean to be all nitpicky, but our Si (for '90 and '91) did actually come with front and rear disks.
Doesn't make me wish our Si was yours any less, though. Welcome to TJ!

Thanks everyone for the welcome.
@A_White_Gs-R, yes, I recon I spent few days lurking on TJ, well it's always good to see where you're going, no?
@drummingpariah, you're totally right, our Si do come with 4 disk brakes as well. I confused with the HF that we don't have here and the fact that the SiR brakes are bigger (EE8 262mm/ED9 242mm front disks, if I'm correct). The emotion to be there, sorry

Amen to that. It is nice to have a haven of sanity though. I can come here and have a civil discussion any time, and people don't kill each other over little stuff.
I just learned that the SiR came with bigger brakes. That's pretty sweet.
I just noticed that we don't have a datsun area on the forum. That's going to be my next project, should I just head over to the Nissan forum, or the Domestics forum? (240z with an ls1 transplanted into it)

I'd say Nissan but it could go in either. I posted my brother's ls1/s14 in the Nissan section.

Well think of it this way no matter the engine you put in the car is still a nissan. Title is a nissan. If theres a hybrid section ( i dont remember if there is) then it can go in there.

I've been owning it for 11 months now, will celebrate 1st year soon... I didn't make all I wanted on her yet, though I should have more time to do it, work is quiter now, even if it's not a very good news, in fact.
Concerning the noob side, don't worry guys, I still have tons of things to learn, and maybe a few to teach.
@drummingpariah, yes we have 262mm front disks... and yes we usually swap them for DC2 brakes, looks like whatever comes stock, one still wants sommething badder
Congrats for finding a fairlady, this car rocks!

Thanks, the body is quite in a good shape, a few "hurts" here and there, like a 16 years old grandma. Hopefully no rust at all, except on the sunroof which is badly hit by rust. I will probably change it for a fiber model one of these days.
The e-brake handle is homemade If you look to this pic, you can see my handle was in a typical "honda green" color scheme. It was really wasting the whole interior but I didn't see anything nice in aftermarket. So I simply recovered it with carbon fiber, that's why it fits so good. Does that make a ricer of me... well I hope not, just say I like it powerful, efficient and clean.
