The Da Vinci Code - 7/10 stars
watched it tonight
u know what's good about lies and truths?
if u mix in truth with a lie....it makes for a helluva convincing lie. in this case. a great story.
but FUCK conspiracy theorist. u know why i dont like them?
cos its stupid ppl thinkin they are smart.
at the end of the day they all display flaws of human insecurity. the human nature to sound important.....to feel a need to 'prove' themselves. in this particular case. they confide in their own knowledge....'knowing more than the rest'. suckers to the belief that knowledge is power.
and even the highly intelligent will fall to it. the stupid will sheep to it. but the intelligent love to involve themselves with such things because it fuels their mind. let alone the same underlying social insecurity to 'feel smart'.
i think dan brown depicted a great story between his novel and this movie. i believe with the time constraints of a cinematic film, he did extremely well with what he had. but i hate the hype behind the story and the movie, the fact that ppl were caught in real life attempting to dig underground to find a passage to the holy grail is a great example of stupid ppl feeling a need to find that faith.
at the end of the day, it was what it is. a great story which has a great influence by using facts to prove itself. makes for a very convincing story. afterall, if u cant involve and/or immerse the reader/viewer....u have failed as a story teller. i enjoyed the movie for what it was. and i think exposure to certain facts are pretty cool......i guess it'll make others interested in the true history of such groups as the templars etc. etc. and that is the effect this story has, because it immerses the reader/viewer.
7/10. i think i woulda given it better than my other reviews, if it wasnt for the hype and the stupid ppl behind the hype

saw the movie tonight, after reading the book last year.
Wasnt bad, Silas was spot on, and I would have been very disappointed if they fucked his character up.
Tom Hanks was a bit more forceful than the Robert Langdon in the book, but I liked it. And Sophie OMG shes gonna be my wife.

I haven't seen it yet but since I enjoy Dan Brown's writing, I am planning on seeing it soon.
My only question - how was Tom Hanks playing the role of Langdon? When I saw that he was starring, I just couldn't picture it.

i think for what its worth he has no real acting flaws. i dont think he's exactly typecast so i think he's always had the potential to play different roles
i had no problem with his acting in this movie. just dont get me started on Tom Cruise lol

I liked the movie it was great but this whole devinci code phenomenon is hilarious. Like those books decoding the davincii code etc etc and people trying to prove that things in the davinci code are true. Theologists all up in arms. I was in one of my classes and they were arguing about it and I had to tell the teacher to shut the hell up already and teach about criminal justice. Its in the fiction section for a reason.

which is THE reason why i stated the above in my first post.
its lame how those conspiracy theory purists think. they try to see themselves as being more open-eyed than the rest of 'us sheep' yet they are so fucking ignorant at the same time.

yeah i find them hilarious because they are complaining about people on one end of the spectrum the people that wont beleivein anything and then they are the other extreme that they are so open to beleive anything that they are idiots. Like when the guy wrote the davinci code he used 3 books to base all of his information off of. One of the books I read before any of this davinci code bandwagon because one of my theology teachers in high school recomended it. The author didnt beleive in what he was writing he just concocted something based on things he found. Then all of the hype and controversy surrounded him and he got used to it so he himself started to beleive his story and said it was true.
Now my take on the matter is this. As plato said, there is no absolute truth except that fact that we know nothing at all. (something like that) I like how the davinci code ended because Tom Hanks character says who cares if he is the son of God or a man. Every one can agree that he was a good example so why not just leave it at that but hey every ones looking for a cause. Theologists will continue to fight and prove their truth while others will try just as hard to discredit them. In the end its irrelevant.

I read the book and i want to see the movie, just haven't gotten around to it. Are there any major plot lines they deleted? Like in harry potter, the movie did away with the whole "against elf slavery" thing.
