it's in the video forum already
I'm not impressed though. I don't see why it takes them months to accomplish anything when setting up a car.

i heard the same (on SHO) but Ivan at AMS claims it didn't. I doubt they'd admit it of course though.
It has broke the driveline at 2 straight events though. Buschar won the shootout last weekend and ran a ton of passes in the 9.6 range (including bye runs and runs before/after the event). This is the kind of stuff i like to see. Who cares how fast your car is when it's on the trailer before the first round?

i started a clusterfuck of a thread on supraforums by talking some shit. One good thing that came out of it was this post:

Stop telling people your car weighs 3200lbs, that's what a stock EVO weighs. Better yer, invest in a good set of scales and actually weigh the car yourself!! Actually wasn't it your car that had duct tape holding parts on it at this last event?
3. We did not take 750lbs out of our car, we honestly took about 125-150 lbs out of our car from last year.
4. We ran 150mph on 810whp last year and 156mph on 870whp. You can barely break the 150mph barrier with your supposed 940whp that you just made up because your ASSUMING that's what it will make! We are going 162mph on about 950whp (we're not running full wick yet buddy)
5. There is no dogbox in our car. I've already heard from other people that you're spreading the rumor that we have a dogbox. Maybe you should learn how to drive and you'll shift as fast as Eric.
6. How many Dynoflash parts do you design, develop, and sell? None, because you are building your car 'one off' for racing. Sorry my bad, other people are building your car for you.
7. We have a whole catalog of parts for the EVO. Every product has been developed and tested on our drag/race car. What this means is there was no time for racing the car since it's always on the dyno on on the lift getting parts fitted. We finally made if a mission to go the track seriously last fall. Did you see what happened? We went 9.6's, 9.5's. and then 9.4's. We ran the same motor all last year, we ran the same spark plugs even!! We had a running joke about how old the plugs where in the car and it runs so well we didn't even bother checking them.
8. Things that we broke: Transfer case, rear diff, 2 axles. And at the last event a tip of the stock cast iron valve guide broke off and went through the engine. It beat up the spark plug and went out the exhaust. The engine still ran but it beat up the valve seats. It's all getting fixed right now. The valve did not break off, nothing to hide here. Cast iron is brittle and the head that was on there was used with original guides.
9. Things we had problems with last year: Ignition box went bad, tuning and testing the car how to launch and shift it fast, boost control. I'm not giving anything else out, you figure it out how to go fast.
10. You ran one 9 second pass (9.97?) last year and then you ran mid 10's? It's a little harded on parts running low 9's than mid 10's
11. When you raced us at the WRX vs. EVO Shootout you played tree games. Unlike us, you used nitrous and where slower so you had to play games. It's called courtesy staging, but you wouldn't know anything about that. Eric was on the two-step for a launch and you just let him sit on it and waited, and waited until he let of and then lit the bulb. Eric bogged bad and with no nitrous (like you ran) the car was out of boost. Have you ever heard me say anything about this before? no! but when you try to rub it in our face I'm going to bring it up.
12. That's really a horrible excuse for when we beat you. You lifted? Why the hell would you lift when you tree'd us and where ahead (for the first 200ft)? Oh wait, the excuse you gave me last time was that the nitrous hit so hard that you hit the rev limiter and didn't realized what happened. First of all you supposedly only ran a 30 or 50 shot? if you did then it wouldn't "hit so hard". What really happened is that we let you leave because we had you covered by almost a second and when we passed you in second gear, you let off the gas.
13. You never broke last year? yah right, I won't bring anything up but don't lie and say you never broke and always finished and or won your races.
14. Don't start a tuning war, you won't like the ammo I have
15. We don't have an 18 man racing team. The 18 people here are busy making products, working on customers cars, answering phones, working on the website, ect. A few of us work on the race car and we usally do it on the weekend or at night, after we've taken care of the customers. Customers first!
16. We are not young loud mouths. You don't want to know how old Ivan is and I'm almost 33.
17. The guys that work on cars or make parts here come from a car background or have extensive experience. Up until a few years ago you where a lawyer who has never even seen a stand-alone. I have a mechanical engineering degree and had 5 years of Formula SAE experience with 2yrs of it being a team captain...that was back in the mid 90's.... The one thing you are good at is being very manipulative and extracting information from people for your own benefit....oh wait you're a lawyer. Or you used to be a liscenced lawyer, again I heard rumors but I won't spread them.

its a shop car, a drag car, and their testing/development car. Things break, shit happens, they build something better. Jesus i feel bad for even being associated with you right now.

i do if you don't know my history with AMS or drag racing in general. I don't feel like writing a novel but i'll just tell you straight out that i'm not impressed with a car that make 3 runs in the 9 second range at a test and tune night after being broke consistantly. Their image on the internet and what i've seen in person are 2 very different things.
I said things of a similar nature as to what i said in that thread on H-T a while back and received a PM from Mase laughing and saying that everyone he's ever talked to at that shop didn't know anything.
That being said, a lot of their fab work looks to be good. The engineering behind it? Questionable, but the work itself looks to be good. I know one of the guys over there (i think Martin but i'm terrible with names) has a Engineering degree or was working on it. I just have never seen something original come out of that shop and really feel it's more follow the leader than innovation.
You need to remember though that i've grown up around 9 second cars. Our current drag car is actually the slowest one we've had with the exception of the 71 Demon and it run's 11.40-11.80's (depending on the weather). It's bracket racing though so running back to back 11.720 and 11.724 is far more important than throwing down a big number once. This is true racing, not a glory pass praying the car holds together. Pretty sure i could slap a 300 shot on my car and go run a few 11 second passes before blowing the motor, would anyone care? And how would that reflect on me if i owned a shop?
edit: Sorry that was kinda vaige. The yellow dragster ran 9.20-9.40's all day.
Nevermind the fact that AMS' Evo is the stereotypical import i hear about nonstop from my dad, the car that ran a mythical number somewhere someday but can't run even close to that number when you see it in person and then breaks 2 passes later.
Furthermore, i can go to the local track anyday and see cars running 9 seconds or less. I'm... decensitized to it kinda. Numbers don't impress me, well built cars that are in the winner's circle at the end of the day do. Buschar made a rediculous number of passes i hear on his drag evo at the shootout last weekend in the 9.6 range and his car is around 600 pounds heavier than AMS. That car has seen the track less than AMS and has no problems holding together. Oh, and he has a new trophy in his trophy case to show for it.
look, this is turning into the novel i didn't want to write.

i like how everyone seems to think you can just throw money at a car and it won't break and will run crazy ass times....
