Why You
Why do you guys like to mod your car? i just want to see why all of you do it? I do it because i like seeing my own work and people saying hey your car look good or nice, knowing that you did it and put your hard working time and effort into.
discuss?

I'm more into the creative aspect. I'm all about my car looking nice, but I'd rather do something innovative and practical than spend a million dollars on rims. My car is my interpretation of what the Civic should have been.
I like to be able to tell people, "Hey, I did that because I'm awesome."

yeah it's a giant money pit. I'm just big into building stuff... and building a car has just always been the perfect hobby. it's the largest, most intricate machine you can hand-build... the car envelops all aspects of art, mechanics, engineering, functionality, optimization... all of which cater to the ingenious.
I would personally rather build a car from the ground up, but since I dont have the money for that, I'm okay with just modding a pre-manufactured one.

Leaving money aside, I'm pretty sure you don't have the technical capabilities/know-how to build a car from the ground up employing current standards of automotive engineering. Just a thought.
Why do I do it? Because I love turning my Miata and feeling 1G of lateral force is why.

uh... yeah I do.
I have a degree in automotive technology from chattahoochee tech here in atlanta, and I'm ASE certified in two areas... yeah only two, but still.
I could easily build a car from the ground up.

It's one thing to build a car and another to build a good one. Im not doubting your ability but I'm just saying companies have years of experience etc when building a GOOD car.
Who am I to say you can't though, prove me wrong.

well, I dont disagree with you there. I never said I would build a "better" car than say, Honda could build. Especially considering it's something I've never done before.
I was just saying I would like to do it... you know, buy like a kit car and just go at it, or build a custom frame and custom body panels and use a Honda engine or something... it'd be a cool project.

I mod my cars becuase 1 I hate stock, I hate not being able to hear my engine, I hate know it's completely ineffenit.
I like seeing what I can do with a car, I LOVE tuning know that I can change the A/F ratio at a certain RPM and gain 2 whp is insane it makes me what to perfectly tune my car.
Also I like to keep my car pretty sleeperish, with my prelude I'm going a little moreon the show side since it openly available unlike my saturn.
Lastly I love put parts in my car and the process of installing things and doing the work myself besides it just fun know you have more power then this car should under you hood

if I could I would build a K1 attack and drop either an H22a1 or B18c1 in it =) or maybe even an ecotec

hell yeah, the attack would be the shit, that's the one I'd really like to build... and it'd have to be H22... I mean the car weighs like 1600lbs or some shit anyway...
plus, the kit design doesn't have mounts for a B18 or an ecotec, it's only got the F and H series mounts.
But hey, with a little fabrication, it's all good. I've seen one with a Honda 3.0 V6 in it.

I know a place you can get motors for the ecotec for the attack... but yeah H22 in the attack = the pimp sauce

I guess ecotec in the attack might be cool... but then I'd also assume in a car like that... it's kinda like putting the F22 in it... under powered.

god that thing is hot =)
if an ecotec went in it, the ecotec would have to be turbo'd running like a GT30R or something =)
