My brother (19 with a clean record) is paying around $1200 a year for liability only on his 97 GSR. It's close to double the insurance for his 93 Civic sedan.
They're nice cars but i don't think they're worth the insurance/theft. I drove one all weekend (94 GSR) and while it was fun i think i'd rather have my CRX or a Civic when you consider everything (weight/theft/insurance).

I love my integra. Its a blast to drive. I wish it was a little quicker (hense my soon to be GSR swap). I pay $2900 a year with full comp and collision. Hey, im a 17 yr old kid with one at fault accident under my belt. I do worry about it being stolen. I live in a really nice area, so its not as much of a big deal.

unless you have a gate to go though to just get into your neighbor hood and you keep your car in your garage, you have everything in the world to worry about when it comes to Civic/Integra being stolen.

Im with transparent. im on my second teg now. i love the car to death but theft and shit is a bitch. My insurance is only 2g's a year full coverage. You would love the car a lil more than the accord. I think its tighter, more nimble and peppier. the high revving will get you hooked. Vtec is so much fun. But if you dont have a garage to keep it in or you are a bit paranoid about it getting stolen stay away from it.

I'll probably park it next to my window. Im thinking about doing engine work now and not going to agressive with styling just a nice suspension set up and some wheels. So once I start messing around with the other stuff Ill probably start parking it next to my window

To be honest, im not looking for a lot of power. Id be perfectly happy with 200hp, or hell even 180. If im running high 15's low 14's, ill be happy (for now )
Im thinking about going with a JRSC. What do you think about that with a B18C1 that has B16 pistons? The B16 pistons bump the CR a bit, so i couldnt run a lot of boost. How much would be safe for DD, and put me close to or over 200whp?

in all honesty the JRSC is alot of money and taking into account the money that you will be putting in for the pistons as well its not worth it. I know that if you get a decent set up together you can be in the mid 13s easily and reliably. Thats from the dig and from a roll you will be pretty beastly. If you can get a t3/t4 your going to have a pretty nice set up for really cheap.

The pistons were 50 bucks. Installed.
Ive seen JRSC's go used from 700-1500. That I can afford. $2000 to peice a turbo together plus tuning, i cant. Plus im a little weary of turbo due to excessive wear on the engine and the possibility of a boost spike. I was looking to turbo my B18B, but shyed away from it for those reasons. SC isnt as bad because youre only at full boost at redline (right?)

it isnt as bad as youd think my freinds turbo accord cost him 900 bucks. He went hella cheap and its been a year with out a single problem. Tunning isnt that big of an issue any way just get uber data or chrome and read up on some forums. You can get a decent base tune from some one online running a similar set up. Tunning isnt as expensive as you think either and if you have that base tune its alot faster.
You cold get a used JRSC but from what ive seen they arent impresive for the money your dishing out. Some one s/c his LS on sho and he could only get a 14.2 out of it. If had went turbo he could have been faster with a better trap speed.
As for full boost at redline your wrong. Depending on the size of the turbo you can be fully spooled at 2500 rpms, thats why you hear about people with turbos having problems getting a good launch because they are putting down to much power ... Turbo lag is only an issue with larger turbos like the ones that some supras use to make big power even then with modern technology turbo lag isnt as bad as it used to be back in the day.
Also talking about engine wear, you dont think that a supercharger is going to do the same thing to an engine? Nitrous, turbo and superchargers all do the same thing. They are all forced induction and they all put wear on the engine. If you dont want to put wear on your engine you just stay out of boost and the problems solved.
Turbo is vastly superior to superchargers. A turbo will always have more potential because it isnt limited by like superchargers are. They will also always be faster in the long run because trap speeds will be higher. I wouldnt go s/c because its a waste of time and money unless you really need that low end power.

GT35 + 1.8 liter motor = full spool at 6k rpm..
25T + 1.8 liter motor = full spool at 3.6k rpm or lower..
you should look at the ultimate goal of every project car you get.
it will cost you butt load of money to switch the route.
