fix my rpm guage

I had to take the needle off the rpm guage and I thought I could get it back correctly but it didn't work. I put the guage in with the cover off and hooked it up, turned on the car when the magneto was magnitized I put the needle to the 0 line. did i do it wrong or what? I have another guage I can use to check the rpm should I just take it off a keep trying till I get it right?

i dont know how many you've done but when its off it sits on the stop at the bottom. if you move it to say 50 while its off it will automatically go back to the bottom. I guess theres a spring in it. well when you remove the needle it allows the guage to go past the stop. so logically I thought if I magnetized it I would be able to get it in the right spot but so far no luck. I took a look at the other cluster if I lift the needle and allow it to go past the stop it goes to the 6 oclock position while off so I'm gonna try that and see what happens

as much as I love working on gauge clusters, I hate working on them for that exact reason.

good luck on this!
