Hey check out this link http://www.osakajdmmotors.com/honda/d15b_2/index.html. Does anyone know if it's a good company to buy JDM motors from? Supposedly they have the 3-stage VTEC with tranny and ECU for $550...and I'm guessing about $500 (high estimate) more for shipping.

Do not buy anything from Osaka. They are horrible. Buy ONLY from hmotosonline.com, UNLESS you personally know someone somewhere else. Local pickups are also good.

Also, the Civic VX has a motor you're looking for with the VTEC-E. I don't really think it would be worth your hastle to do it or even try it, but that is the motor that you'd want. Some people have tried to get what little power they could out of it but it is pretty wasteful in time. I don't know what kind of gas milage you want, but with my stock D15 I was able to get darn near 40 MPG avg. With my B I am in the 33-35 mpg range. Still not too shabby for the huge jump in power and excitement.

I'll pass on the Vtec-E; I only read bad things about it being underpowered. I've got Hmotorsonline in my favorites, but they only carry the obd1 d15b vtec and the SOHC ZC as far as D-series are concerned. I've spent the past 2 days searching for info on swapping the 3-stage Vtec into a CRX, and so far I haven't found anything.

I should have also mentioned these guys. They are good people like hmotors and I believe they are on the east coast (Carolinas ?)

If you've got a junkyard nearby then I'm sure that you won't have a problem finding a z6.

Thanks for the info and link. Here's an importer that definitely sells the 3-stage vtec...what do you all think: http://www.jdmenginescorp.com/index....oduct s_id=53? Another thing I was wondering...would I be able to bolt up a D-series cable tranny to the 3-stage vtec engine...I've read that theoretically any D-series tranny can bolt up to a D-series engine but the hydro trannys are too much work for the CRX?

Yes, any d-series transmission can bolt to any d-series engine. There are hydro-cable conversion kits out there but it is a hassle.

Cool...thanks for the verification. I just got an email from Jkobd saying they could make a conversion harness to run the 3-stage VTEC in a CRX....awesomeness. All I need now is to find a good and not too expensive source for the engine (still wondering if www.jdmenginescorp.com is ok if anyone knows?) and an SI tranny.
