Talking bout to go B20 !!!

ok, heres the situation.....i'll give you the short version. got a JDM B16 w/LSD that i've had for about a year or say. i decided to have it rebuilt so i could put a bottle on it. (never can be to sure) the guy i let rebuild it did everything to specs (so he says) . so while breaking it in, and with only 450 miles on it.......spun a rodbearing and did total devistation to the rod / head/ crank / cams......you get the idea.... so anyways the fucknut that built my motor is buying me a new motor. but i've decided to get the B20B. my head is now good for a boat anchor and that's bout it. but i have a GSR head lined up (B17) and i'm now dipping deeper in the pocket to have the absolute best honda builder in my area build my B20 set up. (Angelo from HolySmokeRacing) i just want your guys opinions on what pistons and rods you guys would use and with a N/A set up with a .......lets say.......75 shot direct port (zex) set up.......my tranny sholud be a good match right... i'm not going turbo or blower. if that were the case i'd for sure do a LS tranny. so come on guys.....talk to me here.....need some 411 on the best set up to do here with what i'm working with.

i'd run some arias or wiseco pistons with carillo, pauter, or cunningham rods.

i've never heard of holysmokeracing...where are you located?

be careful with b20 blocks. they've been known to have spider cracks develop even in n/a form.

Becareful with the b20blocks period. the stock sleeves suck ass. so have the thing resleeved then bored if you are going with a slightly larger piston. I like eagle rods. and wiseco makes a good piston. are you planning on raising the compression? thought about what you wanna do with the valve train yet?

I dont like the whole b20vtec thing i mean its great power but you can start with your own gs-r block resleve it and bore it to 2.0 or a stroker kit or some shit like that. you have to spend 800 on a b20 longblock plus 1k for resleeving and boring and thats being generous on the price. already you are at 2k and you havent even put the motor together yet. With that money into a gs-r i can put more power out than the b20 vtec.

damn, no love for the B20 block heh.. so let me answer some questions and thanks for the feedback fellas. we might not even do the VTEC conversion...that's still in the air. and hell yes we're uping the compression!!! 8.8 isn't gonna cut it. we're completley rebuilding the bottom end. but i'm leaving the VTEC conversion up to Angelo and Shelby. you can check there web page at www.holysmokeracing.com these guys were doing swaps back when 15" chrome rims were BIG! gurus of Birmingham, AL. they did my first swap. but when rebuilding my B16 i took the buddy deal and now see where i'm at. no shortcuts this time. but they're not wanting me to do the VTEC conversion....they want to build the B20 and spray. i've got a friend who's ran a LS on a 100 shot for 3 years with no problems. he rebuilt the motor last winter just cause he thought it was time. and his hatch is pretty damn quick. but Shelby telling me easy 12's on the bottle so sounds pretty good to me. i'll keep you guys posted.

It's the same as an ls/vtec build. The main thing is that you can't use the stock intake manifold cause it's too tall.
