Read one of David Reher's articles in National Dragster last week that was really interesting. Proceeded to do a Google search and found out he puts them all on his website. They're fairly short but have a lot of good info and aren't insanely over technical.
David Reher has been building engines for many people for almost 30 years including motors for the NHRA Pro Stock class which is by far the most competitive class in drag racing.
