more issues with my car :(

ok so i have still yet to resolve the smoking issues. i finally got my fans to work, and now the engine shouldnt overheat, but now i have more issues. we took my car out last night and it ran fine. there was some smoke in the engine bay, just a little after we stopped it and opened it up. but then again, the fans hadnt been working and i totally roasted the clutch.

anyway, so today i let it idle for about 10 minutes to try and see if my temp gauge was gonna work, but after about 5 i heard a click and the idle dropped from 1500 down to about 1100 and stayed there and around 1000. at that point i gave it a little gas just to try and heat it up some more, just see if i could get it to start to heat up. no luck. the hose from the bottom of the rad to the side of the block was still staying cold, while the top one was hot...

then, i suddenly smell something and see smoke in the bay, i get out the car and look at the back and there is white smoke comming out. so i cut it off. i smell the smoke and its sort of putrid, like burning rubber (oil maybe?)

and i look in the bay and its comming from the back of the motor, around the area where the vtec solenoid is. i decide to turn it over again and see for myself where its comming from. so i turn it on and it starts idling at 1000 rpms without starting at 1500 like it normally does. i look at the exaust, at idle its more white than before but still just faint. i look in the motor and the smoke seems to be comming from low down on the block , around the vtec solenoid side, so thats the left side.

now, it wasnt tons of smoke, ti was actually hard to see it, but it was there, and i dont like it, especially when i twas comming out my exaust as thick as it was... what could it be?? i did a second comp test and it was fine. my oil level is staying good, and its really really clean, the coolant in the radiator has aboslutely no oil in it, its crystal clear (as far as coolant goes)

so im stumped. i think the turbo is burning oil, thats what it smells like to me...

The reason your bottom hose was staying cold is because your thermostat was still closed, they take a while to warm up enough to open the stat when you aren't drving them
ass for the smoke, I got no clue right now

me either man. i think it has to be the turbo. theres no other logical reason its blowing whiite putrid smoke without any oil or coolant contamination

I had the same problem with the hoses when my car over heated a while back. the compression test was fine, the coolant was ok but my headgasket was shot. then it all started to go down hill. also you could have a water pump issue which isnt circulating the coolant properly. i had all the problems listed above.

interesting. well, i dont know how any of the shit you mentioned could have gone bad... the head gasket, i can see that getting damaged later on, but from one day of driving... idk.

i just replaced the lower hose so i can put my temp sensor somwhere else. im going to refill it with coolant tomorrow and try and get the temp gauge working so i can see whats up. i really need another way to see if my head gasket is blown, i really dont think it can be, but other than a leakdown test and physically tearing into the motor, what else can i do??
