What would make you remember a drag car if you seen it on the drag strip?


I'm helping a fren design his tube-framed CRX for the upcoming official drag race in Sepang F1 circuit over here.. his car is almost ready and now all that is lacking is a cool design which would make people remember his car and also to attract some sponsors to his project as he's planning to race in Thailand and Singapore maybe even in Australia.. (i went to see the car in the workshop today... i'll post pics when i get to look at it properly)

I hope you guys could give me some feedback of what/how a drag car would attract you and some insights on what elements to use in the design (coz elements like flames has been done to death)...

Secondly, it would be awesome if any of you could provide me with the pdf file for the CRX dimensions...

As far as what stands out for drag cars... either well setup cars or fast cars. I'm very impressed usually when i see an engine bay that is clean and well layed out. The NHRA here usually gives out a "best engineered" trouphy at every race and that's what impresses me the most.

Another thing you could do is lineup a race with a car that people expect to be faster. When a CRX takes down a Mustang that pulls the front wheels around here, people take notice.

In general though, a great way to get sponsors is just to WIN. If you don't get offers, send letters stating your accomplishments to companies and if he's doing well racing and has good times he should have no problem picking up a few sponsors. There is also contingency sponsorships but i'm not sure how they apply over there or even if they exist.

the thing bout his car is it's unique... there's lil to no one who would build a tube-framed car in this country so it's going to be pretty eye-catching..

his car is classed in the turbo section (his car is just a 2.0L Vtec NA) due to it's specs according to the officials so if he wins i'm sure people would take notice..
this upcoming race is just for him to set a time and development and the settings of the car will start from there..

as for the sponsors, we do have a few corp clients from our company (we work in advertising) but as you say, he'd have to win a few races 1st.. at the moment, he just wants to make it look presentable to them, hence, i need to come up with a nice design for him..
