Problem with Ciera 3.1 liter
OK..... I need some love from my Domestics pals. I thought someone on this forum was a GM mechanic (don't remember who).
I picked up a Olds Ciera to flip. The car is a 1996 with only 56000 miles on it! Problem is now after closer inspection I think the head gasket(s) are blown. Extremely milky oil and antifreeze is VERY muddy and huge loss of power.
Question is I have been told the intake manifold gaskets on these engines are shit and that they go. I was also tod the intake has oil and antifreeze running through it so when the gaskets go the fluids mix. I have no idea why an intake would have oil running through it though...... is this true??
Second, I have a feeling I'm just gonna have to suck it up and do the head gaskets. Are they a pain in the ass?? Are there any tricks or things I need to look out for??
thanks!

what happens is the intake gaskets go to shit, then you start burning oil, when you shut the car off oil runs down the the runners to the cylinder
(blown head gasket symptoms) as for the oil and water mix. Push rod V 8 has a valley in the middle which oil drains down, when theses gaskets go bad the water runs down the valley
Edit: I was that gm mechanic btw
