Does anyone know if the pontiac Fiero Gt uses the same block as an 87 S-10 4x4?

I'm pretty sure that is was the same block used for all 2.8 applications. I believe it just varied in bore and the head was the main difference between car and truck models.

That is incorrect. The block ARE DIFFERENT!!!! i think its that the starter is on the wrong side. Ive worked on a few hundred fieros, so im not just talking out my ass, i cant remember exactly what it was, but they ARE different

Nah im not trying to prove anyone wrong or anything. I just remember when i worked at the fiero factory, there was a block laying around and i asked about it one day and was told it was a S10 block and wouldnt work for *whatever* reason. Still dont remember why

The 2.8L motor in the fieros are the same as the 2wd s10s and the camaros I believe. I know the camaro I had I could not put a 4x4 2.8L into from a 4x4 s10, as something ( I'm not sure what) was different between them. They had to move or modify somehting on those blocks for the transmission and transfer case. So I'm going to speculate that if they do use the same 2.8L mpfi, you'll need one of the 2wd versions of the block.
