Proper caliper lettering

O K ,so a few of the guys have asked me to post this thread,so here goes.

BigM43 originally posted his DIY caliper lettering and my props to him for getting members interested in doing this.
Let me begin by saying that short cuts are a good thing sometimes ,if you know the way. Many times the short cut ends up taking longer or resulting in a poor finish .In this case I took no short cuts and I recommend doing it this way for best results.
Start with clean hands or gloves ,the proper paint and the lettering you prefer.
OK lets get started.I took the liberty of sandblasting the caliper first as I have the means to do this ,if you do not ,just make sure to use good brake cleaner and make sure that the caliper is CLEAN and dry.I also took a grinder or sander to the casting lines to smooth the area for the lettering.

Next we want to paint the area of the letters with the color you want the letters to be.For demonstration here I have chosen blue letters on a silver caliper, but you use whatever colors you like .I have chosen these colors just so you can see the white letters on here .If you want your letters white ,I would print them in a different color ,though it doesnt matter as you will be discarding the actual letters.

After the paint has dried properly ,you can now lay down the lettering on the caliper .Make sure all edges are firmly sealed, using the tape backing press the letters on .Dont use your fingers on the letters themselves as you may get body oil on them and the paint wont secure properly.

Once the lettering is secure you can now spray the whole caliper the color of your choice.

After this coat has dried, take an exacto knife or something similar to peel off the letters ,taking care not to scratch the caliper paint.

At this point you are done ,unless you want to add a couple coats of clear for added durability.Taking your time and doing it correctly will yield a quality finish that should hold up for years .

So do it yourself and be proud of the personalization of your ride.
I have stickers available if you want to try this yourself.
