What are some good ways to register a domain name and setup a website through which things will be sold?

Photography is a hobby of mine and I've been framing my photos as gifts for years. I was getting one framed a couple months ago and some ladies at the frame store saw my photo, loved it, got my info from the framer guy, and long story short I made $50 off the thing and probably could have made twice as much if I knew what I was doing.
I want to set up a website with my photos for sale...even if it's just a bunch of them posted with a "email Scott to order" thing at the bottom.
Without going nuts and having to learn a ton about the web you should check out www.smugmug.com I have a few friends who are ammeter photographers that use that site and actually generate sales from it.

For the record I'm not a web retard, but I am a noob when it comes to setting up a server to drive a domain name, etc. I would want the ability to create a front page with a description of what's available for sale...but maybe I could set something up and link to smugmug; using them for my hosting needs etc.
Smugmug gives you the ability to make a pretty simple home page. The other option like you said would be to make your own site and use Smugmug as the backend. It just seems like a waste of your time for just starting out with retail photography. I would say if you get going and become profitable to go that route.

Well put...that reminds me of one of the hallmarks of my MBA - "Know your business and stick to it" ... lots of companies get in trouble branching out...outside the boundaries of their core competencies.
I'll look further into SmugMug ... If i'm just looking to sell photos I'll let someone else do the legistics.
