my current desktop is on linux, and the last thing i ever want to do is go back to windows. im going to have to learn OS-X from zero, but i think with my linux background it wont be too bad. although with linux its a bitch to sync my ipod, and run certain media formats without glitches, so i'm looking forward to that.

i went to the apple store today at the mall, came home and ordered one an hour later. i really didnt dig the black one, even tho it looked pretty nice online. the white one looked more pimp/sleek.
my current comp is about 3 years old, and with linux runs as fast or faster than most 3ghz+ machines out on the market now. i needed something portable for school and a probably new job in the near future (real estate).

i know, its badass. i use it every day and its so useful to have that extra space, but even with the 15 and 17 inch laptops, you still have tons more space than on a pc. the reolution is just so much better with teh widescreens

the macbook's screen is 13.3" (widescreen?). which i do not mind very much because the reason is bought it was for software functionality (iLife, FrontRow, etc) and also i have a 17" LCD i can use at home if the 13.3" is too cramp for photoshop or watching video.

1280 x 800

You will not be disapointed Apple and OSX are far superior to Windows. Also, with X86 you can run Linux apps on the Mac. AND with Boot Camp, you can partion your HDD and have a Windows startup disk now!
I am going to be ordering my MacBook very soon. I'm just holding out for a week in hopes for the Core 2 Duo to come out.

are you talking about upgrading the processor yourself? for apple announcing new options such as core 2 duo is always a big deal.
anyways, the nano came today. but apple is taking so damn long to ship out the macbook. i could use it right now with all the research and homework i've had to do in the library.

The long shipping on MacBooks is due to the back-to-school push. Core 2 Duo is going to debuit in the MacBookPro on the 25th I believe. It's going to be at Photokina in Germany. Hopefully they will include the MacBook.
Anything I spoke of in my post above is purely software (x86 and Boot Camp).

Now the pc people have less excuses about going to apple with the new macs running windows natively now. I can't wait to get a new mac and run both operating systems.
