there are a few decent ones at Best Buy...
But why do you want a tablet?
I can't stand those...get a MacBook Pro and treat yourself nicely

tablets are laptops with touch sensitive screens. they can be used as conventional laptops, or, they can be used to be written on, like a piece of paper.
i loved the compaq tc11oo, but that model has been end of life'd
i havent seen any other ones on the market that im very fond of.

Tablet PCs are gimmicks for the most part, just ask anyone who owns one. Not to mention the swiveling screen is begging to break eventually.
Having said all of that; I think if you hooked yourself up with a MacBook Pro and install XP with Bootcamp you'd be happy as well.
I love my new Intel Mac...it's still kind of hard to believe that I can run both OS X and XP at the same time. (New version of OS X Leopard will allow this seamlessly)

Apple has been using three button mice for about 15 years now.
Every new Mac uses the Mighty Mouse...but with the notebooks you can just hold Control+Click...or just get a USB mouse

Not a bad price, but why not consider the MacBook or MacBook Pro?

Go with your gut instincts, don't get a mac.
There are some nice dual core laptops floating around now for not too hefty of a price, especially "bare bones" systems. You could possibly look into those.

Our school uses tablet laptops (infact they use Gateways just like the one you mentioned)
If you're not going to use it for any real purpose, then just get a regular laptop, plus half the time when you try to write on the tablet it gets it wrong, and you can write faster by hand than on a tablet.
