its actually very simple.

first boot the machine. make sure the cd is in the cd rom.

after the machine posts, you should see "press any key to start from cd"

after that, follow the on screen instructions. you cant fuck up

^some what right..

but when you turn on your computer, go into BIO's and edit the boot-up order to CD-ROM first then the HDD's, and so on with rest..

and then go with "press any key to start from CD" to install.

and it's straight forword from there on if you know how to read bluescree/gray fonts.

don't be afraid to push the key's, your computer won't blow up.

If its a used harddrive then you wanna wipe everything out first. and those directions are on theblue screen. it will also tell you how to partition the drive again all on screen then the install is straight forward with onscreen instructions.

well what i COULD do first is copy everything i want onto a cd, do a system restore on my pc to wipe everything off it to store stock mode. switch everything over onto the new pc and get everything installed on there. i always have to make a list of everything i have to DL from the net. also have to get all my cd's for my hardware, out. install all my games onto the new pc. oh man its gonna rock.

system restore is not gonna erase anything really. It wont erase programs, movies, music or anything. and if you are getting a new computer instead of using cds and shit why not hook them both up especially if you have a broadband connection you can have a different screen name you can file transfer everything you need. or you can network them together in the house and just transfer things over that way.
