help me before i sell my parts to you guys ..

i've been doing this project for about 4 months and i'm finally done .. (almost) I have everything needed for my computer to run but when i push the power button to turn the computer on, all the fans move for about 1 second and then that's it nothing happens. I've checked all wiring and connections and everyting is fine. I took it to best buy twice. the first time they told me is was the motherboard, so i got a new one and installed it and the same thing happened. the second time they said it was the power supply and i got a new one today and the same thing is happening. Funny thing is .. best buy ran their own power supply and it ran but mine won't. I think i'm going to part out my computer because i'm getting frustrated and i could use the money for other things. I have a ( Antec trueblue 2.0 480 watt power supply ) if you'd heard anything like this help me out if not .. lemme know what parts you need.

Check the back of the power supply and flip the orange switch. Might help!

mine did that when my psu died... would start for a sec and then die...

so youve tried 2 seperate psu's in your computer and it did the same thing with both? it could be maybe be that the psu you just purchased was doa... see if you can return it for a new one and try that out... and antec is a decent brand... not top of the line... but good enough

btw... what are your system specs? that might help...

edit: could also be that your motherboard is not grounded right... that why it cuts out right away... its trying to save it self... how do you have it mounted to the case?

i checked my ground like 5 times and asked the specialist if it was wired correct and they said it was correct. it's not likely that i would have 2 psu that are doa but maybe it is .. i have one on the way so i'll try that one.

my specs are ..

asus a8n5x or something like that
corsair xms 1 gb
amd 3200+ athlon 64
nvidia 6600 gt
wd 80 gb hd
dvd rom
floppy

I know it's a long shot but I had a similar problem (twice) with computers that I bought at best buy (instead of built). Here's the story

power went out one day
power came back on but computer no worky
took to best buy
worked at the counter
took home
still no worky
plugged directly into wall (not thru surge protector)
computer worky
apparantly we were having power surges that were frying the surge protectors

have you tried plugging directly into the wall or using a different surge protector?
