So um... sold the CRX
Yep, I mentioned it in another topic but I sold the Si 2 weeks ago... to my brother. Picked this up last thursday, love it and think I made the right move:
Never bought a car on impulse before. Was actually planning to save until December and pick up an Elise but realized I'd rather pick up something a bit more affordable and buy a house.
And no, I can't own a car that the hood matches on. Not sure what the deal is with that but I always manage to get deals and I don't mind this one nearly as much as the purple hood on the HF haha

BTW, I got mine first this time.

Probably because we nitpick every car on the market. I really can't think of anything in this price range I'd rather own (besides a GPW on Tan one )

decent new ride but..................... you suck. The CRX is not worth that much cash, why not keep it????? It's not like it must have made a big dent in buying the S2000.

A lot of reasons really I guess:
1. Living in an apartment, can't have too many cars right now and it's a shame to let the car sit any longer (I hadn't driven that car since April of last year). The only reason that car was worth anything is because of it being stock paint, clean exterior, etc. and I didn't want to ruin that parking it at my current place.
2. The money I got from the CRX amounted to about 40% of the purchase price of the s2000. Got deals on both ends and had a little money in the bank, ended up financing $5750 when it was all over. I wanted to keep my payments low so I can still save and be at least somewhat close to being able to putting a down payment on a house (or move east depending on how my job is treating me) next summer.
3. The CRX was kind of.. done actually. I loved where it was and how well it balanced everything, I had a few things I would of liked to of done but I couldn't justify the cost. With the s2000 I could easily sell it in the spring and recoup every penny I have in it. Plus, if I really want the CRX back I have first dibs on it if/when my brother sells it.
I dunno, it was just one of those change for the sake of change type of things I guess.

You got an S2000 for just around 10K??? How did you do that. That's what 40% equates to. Damn good deal. I know about the apartment thing though, my CRX was parked in storage for 6 years because I couldn't have 2 cars where I lived. At one point I was 3 states away from my car and didn't even know if it was gonna be there when I went to get it.

10.5k as that car sits (minus the lip). It's got 100k miles and the body isn't perfect, but I got a deal to say the least.

It's not much to look at right now. I have a list of parts that will be purchased/installed soon and then I'll do some decent photos.

haha, patience. I actually just ordered a few things from majestic and have a few other things I'm negotiating on.
I'll probably do a full photoshoot the end of the month because I should have enough by then that the car will look pretty different.

Hey Calicab, since nick is being stingy with the pictures, I'm jacking the sh1t out of this thread..haha. Don't think its necessary to make another thread, but I picked this up a month ago, right around the same time nick got his.

You know, I really never liked the look of the s2k until I saw yours, nick. I actually like the paint, love the top, and the wheels offset it just right.
What are you planning to change? It looks pretty solid from where I sit.

I've actually been debating it for the last couple weeks.
Option #1- Stay with the red/black thing. Repaint the wheels, either leave the hood/pick up a CF one (no vents, stock flat style) or even possibly paint it, lower it about 1" and eventually pick up some actual black rims. Also might put black s2000 fender badges on it. Something like this (but no sw388's, I refuse to drop that much on rims for a Honda):
Option #2- Go back towards stock. Strip the wheels/badges, get the hood painted (and some other minor paint work done), amber corners/side markers, lower it 1" and get silver rims eventually. Basically, this:
Both cars are lowered a little more than I would, but yeah. Motor wise, no idea. Car has enough power now to get me in trouble, I wouldn't mind turboing it but I'm scared with the mileage and I want to save for a house anyways. I'm still in the learning phases also I guess so I'm not making too crazy of plans without seeing what every avenue gives me.

I say keep the red/black look. Black s2000 badges on the fenders, go back to amber corners, and throw some nice wide (screw diameter, focus on width) wheels on there.
Motor wise, how can you possibly improve? The car has a great feel, the powerband is predictable, the engine's nearly bulletproof, you have enough power to break the rear wheels loose (depending on width, as mentioned earlier)... I vote against turbo. The f20c is my favorite engine, bar none. The f22c is slightly less cool, but still right up there.
Now you actually have me thinking about getting one. I always thought they were ugly as sin until I saw yours. Maybe I'll go shopping this weekend.

I agree on the motor. It's so hard to improve it, especially n/a. If I went turbo it'd be a pretty mild setup but I just can't justify it until I get some track time under my belt and learn to drive (yeah right, I said the same thing about my crx haha).
I refuse to go bigger than 17" wheels on the car. They're 16's stock and the only reason I'd go up a size is because there isn't that much of a selection of rims in that size. I already miss 14" tire prices.
I keep forgetting about this link: HondaMarketPlace.com: Vehicles for sale: FS/FT/TW: 2000 NFR S2000 $12,500 o.b.o. w/OEM hardtop
That was 2 owners ago but is pretty much the same (hood is changed and I put a OEM lip on it about a week after buying it).
