DOHC ZC overheating?

Well, the temp says that my car is overheating. The gauge will go all the waay up after little driving. The previous owner replaced the head gasket not to long ago. I live in Alaska so the temp outside right now is 22 deg F. The fan is running when I puuled it in. The rad cap is warm and for sure under pressure as it should be. The car is not overflowing any coolant at all. The top hose feels warm and pretty tight. The bottom hose however feels pretty cool to the touch a few minutes after shut down of course. I turned the car off for no more than 5 minutes and it was downt to half way again. There is a wire "wrapped around" What I guess its the connection for the temp gauge. The heater isn't blowing hot air, even with the valves opened under the hood and under the dash. Is this a case of a huge air bubble or does it have something to do with the wire thats running to the temp gauge? Going to do more looking around the car but please post back soon. Thanks.

Been running it for a while now, I loosened the bleeder screw and kept filling till coolant would start to drip out of the bleeder valve. Seems to run great now with great heater! How much coolant should com out of the bleeder once the air is pushed out?
