motor swap

ive been on honda forums for a few years now(as all of you guys know)...and i hate noob questions such as, i just a got crx...what motor should i get?

so ill do my best here...my d16a6 is going to shit right now...i am having trouble finding any info on certain motors so if you guys can help, it would be much appreciated

besides the obvious ZC motor what motors would you guys recommend that i could get into my crx in the next few weeks( before school ends and i have to drive 500 miles) that will be under 1000$ and use things like harness, motor mount locations and shit like that. i have heard there is some early year integra B that will fit in and all i would really need would be like a ecu. i really dont have much money or options here.lol

any help is much appreciated...sorry for the vagueness of the question

john...im looking to you.lol

with only a $1000 to spend..best bet is to get another d series motor..

you can possibly do a b series swap..but I dont recommend going cheap.
to do b series..u need to find motor, tranny, ecu, axles, shift linkage, etc. just by looking at the list you know u will most spend more then $1000

I say get a jdm d15b..cost about 500-550..plus shipping...there will be parts u will need to exchange to make certains work..or do obd0-obd1 converison and get a obd1 ecu like a p28..

I can say from personal experience this is a good motor..I have done 2 swaps for friends with his motor..both are from Specializing in JDM-USDM Engines & Parts...hmotorsonline.com we just got the motors and dropped them in..didnt change anything..both cars are still runing.and that was about 2 years ago.

I have to go with triniskill here. I'd say whatever motor is local, cheap, and readily available is the one you should go with.

Yep. No b-series will bolt in without aftermarket mounts/shift linkage which will be $200-300 of your budget right there (assuming decent deals and used parts).

I'd try to find a d15b/d16z6/d16y8/d16a6.. i think that covers all of them. All are pretty similar power wise and the vtec motors will run off the pm6 ecu for a temperary setup (will have to swap dizzy and o2 sensor and probably should go obd1/p28 eventually).

What's wrong with the a6? Could it be rebuilt instead of being replaced? It's close to the same money but at least you'll know the motor is done right instead of a mystery motor.

where i am at it is going to cost far more to rebuild then it would to buy the ZC i want....this one
http://www.hmotorsonline.com/shop/sc...age&item=30022

so this is my move right now, and i think it will be fun..as light as i am i can beat these now...so i should be quite quicker after this.
